Chapter 5

Court

Captain Voss and her team arrived at the courts twenty minutes early with three inmates from the prison for their hearings, and they seated them in the small, cramped jail in the courthouse. Maya then went and found one of the officers outside of one of the courtrooms and learned the judge they would be seeing today is the same judge that sentenced Angel. She asked to speak to him, and the officer went in and spoke to the judge, and he told him to allow Maya inside the courtroom. Maya walked in and saw he was currently in the middle of court and promised she would not keep him long, but the judge was happier to finally meet the great Captain Voss. Maya explained the situation with Angel and the judge listened to her and agreed to release him, but that she needed to watch him closely. The judge trusted her and knew she would not back down. The paperwork was signed by the judge for Angel’s immediate release, and she thanked the judge and left until it was time for the inmate’s she brought to come in.

Headed back, Angel’s shock

They headed back to the prison with the inmates and Maya had no issues with getting through security this round and put the inmate’s back in their cells. Maya, Grayson, and Rylynn made their way to Angel’s cell. Angel walked to the bars on his cell and saw the paperwork that Maya held up showing his release to her. She saw him dead in the face and said that he belongs to her now. Angel was happy and would surely prove himself to Maya. They worked on his release and took him to the training grounds and got him fitted for everything. Maya looked at the three people sitting in front of her… Lieutenant Grayson, Rylynn, and Angel, she had two women and two men, she only needed six more for a full team. Later that day, Maya learned that a new captain was beginning her journey like herself. The captain is Kyia Arcadia.

Angel was Hispanic and told us about his family, that we were able to reunite him with his wife, Cassie Vega and their two children. Angel was a good learner and trained really hard. Rylynn tried to stay close to Maya, which made things awkward between them or at least for Maya, because Maya already had feelings for Rylynn that she did not realize she had until they worked more together. Maya told Jay about how she felt, and he was very understanding, but that is when Maya learned that her husband had been hanging out with Maggie, Kane and Cassie while they had been working and how they had become friends. Maya was relieved to hear this because it made everyone’s life a little easier. Jay told Maya to take the time she needs to see how she feels about Rylynn and that they would figure it out together. Maya understood and did just that.

Meeting Renlee

Headed into another sheriff’s office, there was chaos throughout the entire building, and they learned that there was a drug bust but the dealer disappeared. Maya and her team were asked to assist with the situation and she agreed. While they were all in the meeting room, discussing the drug dealer, a woman caught Maya’s attention. She sat there ignoring the chaos around her. Maya turned towards the Chief and asked about her. Maya learned that her name is Renlee Sota and that she was a police officer. Maya told the chief that she wanted her on her team and the chief agreed. Maya watched as he walked out and approached Renlee to tell her that she was fired, and the rare that appeared on her face was noticeable. Then she instantly looked at Maya once she learned she was on her team.
