Chapter 37
Due to some conflicts with scheduling, or so Laurie had explained, our slot for History class got moved around during the time I was out and missed class for almost the whole week. We got our things from our lockers and ran back up the stairs once again to Miss Humphreys’ classroom. The tardy bell rang just as we entered the classroom, surprising the young teacher who was casually writing on the chalkboard.
"Well, look who it is!" she gasped with delight. "I'm glad you're feeling well now, Miss Wysterra. We missed you in class."
Laurie casually slipped into his seat, leaving me standing by the door like a deer caught in headlights. Miss Humphreys was still looking at me with the kind of delight that trapped me in place.
