It was quiet once more in the dark cold forest now that the hunt has come to an end and the wolves retreating into the darkness in which they came along with the hunted. leaving nothing behind. now that the coast was clear the forest inhabitants began to roam as they normally would. rabbits abandoning their borrows for a late-night snack hopping through the snow, making its way to the nearby stream for a drink, innocently stopping by the stream taking a sip when suddenly there was a rustle in the bush behind him causing the creature to pop its head up taking a look around. after a minute or two of nothing, not even a sound. the unsuspecting rabbit turned its back once more, leaning over to take a drink. suddenly a big grey wolf emerged from the bushes before the rabbit could react he was already in between the sharp teeth of the grey wolf. so much for a late-night snack, now he was the snack. the wolf thought to himself as he snapped the rabbit's neck. the only difference about this particular wolf's species was it was known to be extinct for over 100 years now. not half-human at all only wolf more animal than any other wolf to roam these woods. the big grey wolf began to tear its dinner apart leaving nothing but bones in its wake. after finishing its easy catch, belly full and off to nap in a burrow of his own. the wolf began its journey back home when suddenly he heard something way off in the distance. stopping him dead in his tracks. He had to investigate the strange sound, so he took off full speed ahead in the direction of the sound. reaching closer and closer he slowed his pace, stalked down real low, and began to creep over to the log. "waah waaaahhh waaaaaahhhh" the unknown animal screamed out.  as the wolf stalked closer. the sound he was sure was coming from the inside of a log in the middle of the woods. but he couldn't figure out what animal made a sound like that. which only piqued his interest more. once close enough to the log the wolf began sniffing around it until he caught the scent of another wolf. Royalty at that. he could sense it just off the sweet smell lingering on the fresh wood left around the ground on the outside of the log. but the sound stopped almost as soon as he got close to it. poking his head into the wooden shreds he smelled that smell again the smell of royal blood so strong he began to sneeze. causing that very same sound to go off again.   "waah waah waaaaaah"poking its head in again he sniffed around the log crouching his body down flatter to shimmy into the log further, stopping when he reached something soft. the wolf began sniffing the blanket covering the small animal until something reached out kicking it right smack in the snout. causing the wolf to shimmy backwards in a hurry retreating away. he stopped just behind a tree pausing to sneak another look. nothing came out. "strange," he thought. "what is it" he wondered. creeping back over slowly this time on alert. lowering his body to the ground once more he shimmied his way back into the log this time pushing the wood chips out with his hindlegs for an easy escape. he shimmied up to the blanket again the time unraveling the bottom but to his surprise revealing to tiny human feet. "it's not an animal at all" the wolf thought. however, its scent proved different. the wolf began to sniff at the tiny human's toes causing them to wiggle in return. he took a few cautious steps back sliding halfway out of the log. but instead of the loud annoying noise, it did before, it made a cooing sound as if it enjoyed the wolf's touch. the confused wolf then decided to pull the soft blue blanket closer and the tiny human began to slide with it. Backing up inch by inch he pulled the blanket slowly towards the entrance of the hollowed-out log until the tiny human landed with a thump onto the snow. the wolf stepped back letting go of the blanket. still keeping an eye on the tiny human. but it didn't move, instead, it just opened its bright beautiful blue eyes taking in the sky above. the tiny human just seemed grateful to be out of the cramped log it was stuck in. the wolf stepped closer now hovering over the tiny human and began to sniff at its tiny clothing ending at its full man-made diaper. "oh that smells terrible" the wolf thought. the baby giggled as if it heard his thought. shaking off that horrible smell, the wolf leaned over the infant once more and continued investigating that smell of royal wolf emanating off of it. checking to see if it was injured, but it wasn't. the tiny human reached up and stroked the wolf's fur surprising the unsuspecting wolf. he leaped back so fast nearly jumping out of his fur! but it sort of felt nice. warm and maybe even inviting. "what's this human doing out here all alone. where are its parents" "wait it couldn't be all human it reaks of the wolf blood.. royalty at that" "wait it's not my business, this is human business" the wolf thought. then began to walk away. he took off running back to his burrow darting inside, laying in his carefully dug out warm spot just a sizeable hole in the dirt, after circling it twice he nestled in nice and comfy to rest his head. only he couldn't just go back to sleep. not when he knows there is an innocent tiny human lying out in the snow. "ugh I can't just leave it out there to die" the wolf argued with himself. jumping to his feet he climbed out of his warm burrow rushing back to the log. once he got there he noticed the poor tiny human was gone! freaking out he darted over sniffing the blanket, noticing fox tracks around the other end.  "my baby!" the wolf took off running as he traced the tracks running beside them until he spotted the culprit walking off with the tiny human hanging from its mouth by its shirt. the wolf ran over to the fox knocking him down as he dropped the tiny human into the snow. the fox hopped up preparing for a fight when he took one look at the big bad wolf and decided it was best to find food elsewhere taking off with its tail tucked between its legs.  the wolf grabbed hold of the tiny human's shirt and began to carry it back home, once it was safely back in the burrow the wolf placed the tiny human down gently then took off back into the forest to look for the blanket he left behind. Returning a few moments later with the small blue blanket he then tossed it over the baby rolling her over and over until satisfied with its wrapping abilities. "you're safe now my tiny wolf" the wolf said. and the tiny human just smiled back up at him. nestling down curled around its new baby the wolf and the tiny human fell fast asleep.
