Ozwalds pov:
With the first day of school finally over, some big decisions have to be made. I made the drive home in silence as I contemplated the proper punishment to be dealt out tonight. As we drove down the long dirt road, exiting the human town and leading us back into pack territory. I looked through my rearview mirror at Desmond, who sat behind me on my left side, staring out his window and fidgeting with his hands. Then I looked over to Jackson on the right, busy debating with Ivy, who sat in the middle, fully engaged in the pointless conversation. I sighed, rolling my eyes as they glazed over. Kamora sat up front with me since Luke had to stay late today due to after-school detention. So I offered to drive her home on his behalf. We would be pulling up to the pack house any minute now, but I was in no rush. It wasn't like I truly enjoyed being the next alpha in line, but it was something I was born into. I had no choice in the matter. What my father says goes. No matter who was harmed or affected by his decisions, he didn't care. As long as his words were obeyed. Jackson broke the rules, and he would be dealt with. If word was to have reached my father by now, I can promise you he would take his head, making him and his death an example to the rest of the pack, and who knows if he'd stop there, knowing my dad, he would take it too far, making an example out of his whole bloodline. My father, the Roman alpha, was ruthless. If I couldn't find a way to get ahead of this, I'd possibly lose one of my best friends. That thought alone was the main reason I couldn't let this problem get out of hand. Decisions were to be made, and soon.
As we were pulling into the pack house driveway, I put the car in reverse, backing into my assigned spot. When the potent smell of fear crept through my window, I snapped my head to the left, taking in a deep whiff. I knew something was terribly wrong. That much fear in the air had to be something bad. I did what any alpha would do. I pushed my door open. Hopping out of the car in a hurry, I took off towards the front door, bursting through it as I pushed past my father's guards all huddling around my mother.
When I reached her, she extended both arms, pulling me into a deep hug as she trembled in my arms.
"Oh Ozwald!" my mother cried, nearly collapsing in my arms.
" What happened!? Who did this!?" I demanded answers.
My wolf was pissed, determined to find the culprit and make them pay. Seeing my mother like this, I nearly lost all control. Giving in to my wolf, begging to be let out. I fought hard against him, pushing him back down as I tried to get to the bottom of things.
My mother had fainted in my arms before she could tell me what was wrong. Filling me with more rage than I already was. I was practically seething from my mouth as I turned to her guard detail.
"I'm only gonna ask, ONE MORE TIME!" I roared as my wolf nearly pushed through the surface.
Just then, the door swung open as my father, the alpha, finally arrived on the scene. He pushed me out of the way, grabbing hold of his mate and squeezing her small frame tightly in his arms.
"It was that little Servant girl...Alpha! She was something else...unlike anything I've ever seen!" Cried Jethrow Guard #2, the youngest guard on mom's team.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN, IT WAS THE SERVANT GIRL!?". "The child is harmless, just another human with no wolf," said Jonas the Roman Alpha.
Or so he thought. Ozwald looked over at his father visibly confused. He had no idea how he would have known that bit of information, being that Helena herself had only found out today.
"OH, She has a wolf!" Kellen Guard #1 assured us.
"Two Sir...She has two wolves!" Mike Guard #3 added.
"Two wolves?" My father and I repeated simultaneously.
"THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE!" Father accused.
"No!" my mother's voice spoke as she regained consciousness.
"No! it's not impossible! That filthy servant b***h found a way!" My mother spewed out the words like venom.
"I warned you about that girl when you first brought her in here, Jonas!" My mother scolded.
"I know Katherine!" My father said and I could feel the guilt in his voice.
"Told you to get rid of her! BUT NOOoo! You just had to keep that thing!" She ranted on and on.
"You i***t!"... "You don't deserve to be an alpha!" she continued with her words cutting deep.
"ENOUGH!!!" Father roared, forcing my mother's mouth to clench shut, as she bared her neck.
"I've had enough of your s**t! Katherine!" Alpha continued.
"But you don't understand what you've done, Jonas!", Luna spat.
"And just what have I done? Katherine!?" Father asked her with a bored expression as he walked over pouring out a cup of finely aged scotch.
"The girl's a Lycan! You should've killed her when you had the chance!" My mother said as she burst out laughing maniacally.
Father's eyes widened and his form stiffened, slowly turning to face his guards, who only nodded in confirmation.
"How could you bring that thing into this house? Jonas! You could have killed us all!" Mother spat as she rose to her feet, wiping the wrinkles off of her white dress.
" She could have been mated to our son!" She continued.
"SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN MATED TO OUR SON!" father yelled back.
The whole room grew quiet just then. I avoided eye contact with them both, staring down at my feet as if suddenly they were the most interesting sneakers in the world. No one spoke as well as we all knew not to during one of their heated discussions. I glanced back toward the front door, noticing Desmond leaning against it and Jackson standing there behind him. I motioned for us to go as we quickly and quietly backed out of the door. Jethrow and the two other guards followed us out, leaving the alpha and Luna to what felt like a private moment. Shutting the door behind us to give them some privacy.
"So what happened?" Desmond asked.
"Not sure, really..." I responded truthfully.
"I'm sorry alpha, I truly am." Jethrow started.
"We had just got in from Luna's dress fitting, as soon as we opened the door she pushed through knocking Mikey to the ground as she made her way to the mess hall. I followed behind her closely at the necessary distance. When we reached the mess hall, Luna Katherine went in there like a bloodhound sniffing the air until she bent down on the ground just before the table and noticed a small droplet of water on the ground." Jethrow said as he paused, catching a breath.
"Before I could catch up, she was already in the kitchen. I pushed into the door just seconds later and I started to hear a loud smack followed by a thud. When I got in there, Luna Kathrine had the young servant girl's hair wrapped up around her hands as she dragged her across the room and out of the door. I wanted to intervene bu-bu-but you know how Luna is." he confessed.
My mother's guard stood in front of me, filling me in on earlier events. He reeked of fear as he was relaying everything to me. Not sure if it was for the fear of me or the punishments dealt out by my father. But I could hear his heart beating in his chest and if he lied, I would know. Yes, my mother can be ruthless sometimes, and I could definitely understand why he was afraid of her. My mother can be a lunatic some days and perfectly fine the next. She was diagnosed with bipolar syndrome and her wolf has been constantly trying to gain control of her human form ever since. There's nothing more dangerous than an unpredictable wolf, especially one who is Luna.
"I know you did what you thought was best." I tried to reassure him.
"Yes alpha, I did!... But the Luna, Sir, was full of rage. She dragged the servant girl through the back door, she swung that girl by her hair, launching her body across the field... And when she was down, everyone came running to see what was going on. Luna walked over ready to finish her off. Before she could reach the girl, she got distracted by the loudest growl I'd ever heard rumble deep from inside the forest. We all were, ... I mean it was so loud the ground shook beneath us! Luna Katherine stopped in her tracks. The poor girl huddled over in the clearing. After a few seconds, Luna Katherine began to walk closer to the girl, only making it a step or two before we all saw those large bright yellow eyes appear through the trees behind her, and a huge wolf came out of nowhere!... He stood over her, li...like as if he was a pet protecting his master... I swear alpha, it was the most peculiar thing. Can you believe it? An enormous wild dire wolf!!.... When Luna ordered us to attack them, we all began to charge at them as instructed, but I must have blinked because soon the Servant girl stood up ready to fight back. She practically levitated in mid-air and her aura spread through the air as she pulled a storm ...fr...from I have no idea where!! It was like she was a completely different person, and believe me, alpha, I know this girl. She's been in almost all of my classes since freshman year. She was different, yeah, but not like that! She was stronger and more confident in an instant... like she had just evolved. " Jethrow confessed.
"What do you mean she levitated?" I asked, still stuck on Levitation and spewing storms.
"Alpha! she Levitated!!" .."IN MID AIR!" Jethrow emphasized.
"How is that possible?" I asked him.
"I have no idea! ...But she did it! AND THEN!" he started to get excited.
"SHE TRANSFORMED!.. TURNING INTO A WHITE LYCAN WITH THE FREAKING POWER TO CONTROL A STORM!" he said, practically screaming at this point.
I had no idea what was going on with Helena, but a part of me really hoped she was alright. I knew he had to be telling the truth but, I didn't want to believe it. It just all seemed so far-fetched. Helena told me she had no wolf. I smelled it for myself. Maybe she had found something in that library after all. But I thought she would at least tell me. I know we aren't friends anymore, but I still cared about her. And I had to know if she was safe. My wolf's anxiously clawing and gnawing at the door in my mind, trying to get out. I've been feeling a pull toward her since that day in the library. It wasn't the pull of the mate bond, but something about her made my wolf just want to hop out of my skin, leaving me behind, and following her everywhere. It's been a week since I let my wolf Alias out to play and with all these mixed feelings he's been sending me, I couldn't risk letting him free right now. So I just pushed him down. For now...I have to know more about her. Something tells me Desmond is the best man for the job. His father was my dad's beta and he had to know something about that night when my father found her "Living amongst wild wolves". I turned to give him the command to find him already staring directly at me awaiting his leave.
"Already on it, boss!" Desmond said, winking at me before he took off running in human form.
I don't know how he does it, but somehow that wolf always knows what I'm thinking before I even have to say it. I suppose it's better to have a wolf like him on your team than against you. And I was lucky to have him as my best friend. That's why I had to make this thing between him and Jackson right. And at this point, I had to involve my father. With all the things going on around here. He would be pissed to find out about it now. So I had to do it, I had to walk right up there and deliver one of my best friend's heads on a platter to one of the ruthless alphas I know. My own father. (Gulp)
