The Gala Encounter.
Olivia Bennett walked into the grand New York gala, her heart racing. The lights sparkled above her, and the sound of music and laughter filled the room. Everyone looked perfect in expensive gowns and tuxedos. Olivia felt small and out of place. Her dress was simple, and she knew it did not shine like the others. She held her clutch tight and took a deep breath. “I don’t belong here,” she whispered to herself. But she was here for a reason. She wanted to be seen. She wanted someone to notice her, not her perfect sister Clara. Clara was always the center of attention. Clara had the beauty, the charm, the confidence. Olivia was always in the shadows. But tonight, she wanted to step out. Across the room, Ethan Blackwood stood with a glass of champagne in his hand. He was tall, dark, and powerful. Everyone knew him. He was the billionaire playboy who had women falling at his feet. His smile was dangerous. His eyes carried secrets. And when Olivia walked into the room, his eyes locked on her. “She’s different,” Ethan muttered under his breath. He watched her walk slowly, her nervous steps making her look innocent, almost fragile. But her curves made his body burn with need. Ethan handed his glass to a waiter and moved toward her. Olivia felt his presence before she even saw him. She turned and almost gasped when she met his gaze. His eyes were deep, hungry, and fixed on her. “You look lost,” Ethan said with a sly smile. Olivia swallowed hard. “Maybe I am.” “Then let me guide you,” he replied smoothly. Her cheeks warmed, and she looked down. “I… I don’t usually come to places like this.” “Good,” Ethan said. “That makes you more interesting.” His voice was deep, his words like silk wrapping around her body. Olivia’s heart pounded in her chest. “I think you deserve a drink,” Ethan said, waving to a waiter. “I shouldn’t,” Olivia whispered. “Then take it anyway,” he insisted, handing her the glass. Their fingers touched for a moment, and Olivia felt a spark rush through her. She quickly sipped the champagne to hide her trembling. “You’re nervous,” Ethan said. “Maybe,” she admitted. “I'm nervous,” he said with a smirk. “It means you feel something.” Olivia tried to smile. “And what about you? Do you feel anything?” Ethan leaned closer, his lips almost brushing her ear. “Oh, I feel a lot right now.” Her breath hitched. His closeness made her dizzy. She felt every beat of her heart. They moved through the gala together. People stared, whispering, but Olivia barely noticed. Ethan’s hand rested on the small of her back, guiding her. Every touch sent heat rushing through her body. As the night went on, the champagne made her lighter. She laughed more, her shyness slipping away. Ethan’s eyes never left her. “You’re beautiful,” he said suddenly. Olivia froze. No one had ever said that to her in such a way. Not like this. “You don’t have to lie,” she whispered. “I never lie when I want something,” Ethan replied. “And what do you want?” she asked, her voice shaky. “You,” Ethan said simply. Her heart nearly stopped. She could not believe it. This billionaire playboy, the man every woman wanted, was looking at her like she was the only one in the world. Before she could think, Ethan took her hand and led her away from the crowd. They slipped down a hallway, the music fading behind them. Olivia’s breath quickened as he opened a door to a private room. “Wait,” she said softly, standing in the doorway. Ethan looked at her, his eyes burning with desire. “If you don’t want this, tell me now.” She hesitated. Every part of her screamed to run, but another part, the part aching for someone to see her, begged her to stay. “I want this,” Olivia whispered. That was all Ethan needed. He pulled her inside, shutting the door. His lips crashed onto hers, hungry and rough. Olivia moaned, her body melting against him. His hands explored her curves, pulling her closer. “Ethan…” she gasped between kisses. “You taste better than I imagined,” he growled. Her hands clutched his shirt, pulling him closer. The heat between them burned hotter than fire. She had never felt this before—so raw, so wild, so forbidden. Clothes fell carelessly to the floor. Ethan kissed down her neck, his mouth claiming every inch of her skin. Olivia’s moans filled the room, her body arching to his touch. “Please…” she whispered. Ethan smirked. “Begging already?” “I need you,” she admitted, her voice breaking. He lifted her easily, pressing her against the wall. Their bodies collided in a storm of passion. Every movement was desperate, hungry, unstoppable. Olivia’s innocence mixed with the dark fire Ethan unleashed in her. Hours slipped away in the heat of their bodies. She forgot the world. She forgot her fears. There was only him, only this moment. When it was over, they lay tangled on the floor, their bodies covered in sweat, their breaths heavy. Olivia’s head rested on his chest. “This was a mistake,” she whispered. Ethan’s hand stroked her hair. “No. This was the best mistake of your life.” “I can’t… I can’t do this,” Olivia said, pulling away. She quickly dressed, her hands shaking. Ethan sat up, watching her. His eyes were dark, unreadable. “You can’t just walk away,” he said. “I have to,” Olivia replied, avoiding his gaze. “This isn’t me. I’m not like the women you play with.” Ethan stood, pulling on his shirt. “You think you can forget this? Forget me?” “Yes,” Olivia said, though her voice trembled. But deep down, she knew she was lying. She opened the door and stepped into the cold hallway. The night air hit her like ice when she finally walked outside. She wrapped her arms around herself, shivering. From above, Ethan stood on a balcony, watching her with piercing eyes. His look was dark, possessive, almost dangerous. “You’re mine now,” he whispered to himself. Olivia felt a strange shiver run down her spine. She looked back once, but the balcony was empty. Her heart raced. She hurried down the street, trying to escape the memory of his touch, his kiss, his fire. But she knew the truth. She would never forget him. And she feared he would never let her go. Was this the beginning of something she could never escape?
