THAT WAS NORA’S FOURTH outing on Matt’s yacht, and she had started to wait for those trips with impatience. Nora loved the feel of the wind in her hair and the smell of the water. Everything was different there, the light and sounds, the air and silence. She couldn’t wait to see Bryan’s house on the lake, which Becka had praised so much. She was as giddy as Nat whenever she thought of that Saturday.
Maggie and Lily had taken an exuberant Nat to the bow. They chatted and laughed together. The boy kept asking questions, barely giving them the time to answer any of them, and that amused the women to no end.
Nora smiled. Those days, Nat could ask questions faster than anyone could answer. More than that, the lake fascinated him, and he was curious about everything.
