THE PARTY HAD BEEN going strong for several hours already. Nora wondered that the people weren’t exhausted yet. She had sat on a blanket most of the time and still felt a little tired.
They had arrived at Bryan’s house a little after ten, and the first thing, they arranged the food on a few folding tables. They spread blankets under the trees, in the shadow, and ate heartily, laughing, talking, and teasing each other.
Nat had his nap inside Bryan’s house. Marjorie and Jonathan, but also Michael and Amelie, and Gabriel and Emilie rested in the house with the children, while the younger generation played volley.
Jay invited them to a card game, which made everyone throw something at him. They laughed while egging him, but Jay still seemed somewhat hurt.
