***Danarius POV***
The scream came from another woman who came into view. She was about five feet tall I would guess. Her figure was slim with cream colored skin. The look on her face was if she was horrified. Definitely not human, but I couldn't point my finger on exactly what she was either. My assumption is she is the small girl's mother. One thing I know is you do not mess with a mother's scorn; especially if she is not human. On the other hand, I need my mate close to me. I am conflicted, I yearn for my mate but she is too young to come with me. If I spend too much time away from her, it will be my downfall. Something I cannot afford at any cost. For now, I will have to settle with just being close by. I will have to be smart about it, until I know exactly the origin of this family and who all is involved. I didn't want to pull away but I knew I had to. I growled softly in frustration, as I did not want to scare my mate. When I did, thankfully I did not scare her, only her mother who was already frantic. I slowly crept back and disappeared into the shadows of the trees.
***Malia's POV ***
As the wolf left, I felt a sadness overcome me and then my frantic mother ran right into me.
***Sixteen year old Malia's POV***
That was the very first time that I met the wolf. The next time I saw that very same wolf, I was 7 years old. It was my birthday. Of course there was a party being thrown for me. My mother was a very loving mother. She had striaght long blonde hair with sea green eyes. The only thing she hated was her height. When she was mad at my father, she would refer to herself as "the midget". It was funny minus the yelling. In the same token, my father was loving too. He didn't show if often, as far as I could tell; not like mother did. He was far taller than mother, towering at six feet four inches. He had dark brown hair with light brown eyes. My birthday was in the spring so my parents had planned outdoor festivities. My father was in charge of calling and booking these things. But guess what? He was too busy at work doing work things. I didn't know what he did for work coz he always said I was too young to understand. He typically was only home two to three hours a day when I was awake. Always in the evening; he never missed dinner. So I was just excited that he was home for the party! Dad had gotten too wrapped up in his work though that he forgot to do the booking. It was too late when my mother found out so the new plan was to eat inside and do simple stuff outside like jump rump, draw with chalk, etc. Next thing I remember was my brother, Maren, shrieking. He was only two years younger than me and he looked identical to my father. The shrieking startled my mother, as she always seemed skittish. Quickly I saw her shoulders relax as she looked past Maren out the kitchen sliding glass doors. I saw it too! Appeared was a bounce house, a bean bag toss, and a clown blowing up balloons! I was the first one to run out the door with my eyes wide with excitement. I didn't know what I possibly wanted to do first! All my friends, Maren, and I, so about 15 of us, had a great time. At some point I did hear my mother say "Hunny, I thought you said you couldn't get the bounce house rental."" I couldn't. "Which made both of my parents wonder how these things got there. There was a bounce house with a slide and maze to it. As well as a clown blowing up balloon animals and a princess! Belle from Beauty & The Beast to be exact. They shrugged thier shoulders and that was that. As the evening was coming to an end, all my friends were slowly starting to leave to go home. Mother was getting Maren ready for his bath and bed while my father was cleaning up the kitchen."Malia, be a good girl and make sure we didn't leave anything outside." My father said to me."Ok." So with that being said, I went outside to the backyard. There was a couple plastic cups left on the table so I threw them away. All of a sudden I got a cold chill. I don't remember it being windy when I stepped outside. Then I felt like I was being watched so I surveyed the whole backyard. There he was, the black wolf. I was not afraid. A look in the beast's eyes and something told me that there is no need to be frightened. My eyes were fixated."Malia! Time for bed!" I blinked and the wolf was gone.
