The Start

ASPENS POV

After that argument with Asher, we had dinner and mom ended up finding out about my project. I was terrified to tell her. I was hoping she wouldn’t even notice because she works so much. Once the truth was out in the open I felt a lot better. Ash even made a nice remark about Ben and I truly believe it was genuine. He sees the good in people but will be a hard a.ss in the beginning. I was all done and went up to my room. I packed a few different options for outfits. I don’t have much party clothes so I will wear a tank, some ripped jeans and my chucks. Mom won’t suspect a thing either since I am dressed my most casual. I go to the bathroom fixing my makeup, brush my teeth and fix my hair. I keep it down flowing and add a little chapstick. I’m not a huge fan of lipsticks. Just a good restore moisturizer like chapstick for my lips. I check my phone when I go back into my bedroom. I have five missed calls from Kimi so I call when back quickly. “Finally! Are you ready? My cousins and I are out now can we come get you? I’m too excited!” She says shouting on the phone. “Sorry girl I was getting ready but yeah that’s fine I am ready to go!” I say to her excited. “Yay pulling up in two minutes!” She shouts then hangs up. She’s crazy I laugh to myself. I grab my bag and head downstairs. Mom is in the living room so I go over to her. “Mom I know I haven’t asked yet but it was short notice and they are almost here, can I please go to my friend Kimberly’s house for a sleepover?” I ask her as sweet as can be. She laughs. “Go have fun honey. I am so proud of you for making friends here and opening up. I love you kids so much. Your happiness is my happiness.” She says smiling getting up to give me a big hug and I squeeze her tight saying love you before booking it out the front door. Kimi and her cousins pull up and I recognize the girl in the passenger seat. She is my cousin Sasha’s other best friend Simone that I met earlier today. This town is getting smaller by the minute. I am too awkward for this.. “Come on babe!” Kimi says and I smile walking over getting in the back with her. She side hugs me. This girl has been the best to me. I don’t know how I got blessed with a great friend. “Aspen these are my cousins Kayce on the left and on the right is Simone. “Hey girl nice to meet you. Kimi hasn’t shut up about you. How you like it here so far?” Her cousin Kayce says. I chuckle a little. “She’s really too kind to me. It’s nice to meet you too. It hasn’t been too bad. I can’t complain.” I say back to her. “Good to see you again Aspen. We will be seeing a lot of each other especially since Sash is your cousin. What a small world.” Simone says kindly. “Nice to see you again. It definitely is a small world girl. I’m happy to finally have some family aside from my siblings and mom.” I say to her chuckling a little and they all join. “Are we ready ladies?” Kayce asks and we all say yes so she drives off. We were only a few streets away because she is on the same street as Danny and Matty. I guess they are neighbors. We get on her street and wow these homes are super nice compared to ours. I laugh to myself on that one. We suddenly stop and I assume this is the place. I turn to look and see this extravagant home. Well something I would call extravagant. Similar to the ho.me alone movies! But with a fence built around it. It’s secluded in a way.. “Wow this is a beautiful place Kimi. I have never seen anything like it in real life. Sure Montana has big homes but not where I lived it was suburban style homes. Three rooms tops.” I say to her in complete awe. She giggles. “Girl we got five bedrooms and three bathrooms AND plenty of party space! Let’s go!” She says to me all hyped up. Kimi, myself and Simone get out of the car. Kayce told us she was getting the goods for the party and I’m assuming alcohol. No high schooler would go to a party with no liquor. Just doesn’t happen. Kimi squeals in excitement and Simone laughs so I join in. Kayce leaves and we walk down her walkway. We go in and it just keeps getting better and better. “Dam.n girl seriously? Talk about gorgeous!” I say to her happily. Her and Simone laugh. “Oh Asp. You are too funny thank you. Let’s get this place decent I got my DJ coming in ten minutes. He’s a friend Kayce’s. She literally knows everyone.” Kimi says excitedly. She starts walking away so I follow her. We go up the stairs and she opens a grand double door. “Wow this is like my whole house.. This is your room? There’s a sitting area what the unreal is this.” I start laughing. “Yeah I’m a bit spoiled for being the only kid.” She says bashfully. “Well you can have mine and we can switch. I could get use to this!” I say excitedly walking past her to her sofa. I plopped down. So comfy. “This is a freaking cloud!” I shout sprawling flat. Kimi dies laughing. “Oh my go.d if you don’t stop I’m going to pee on myself! Now follow me to my closet. You need a party dress and so do I!” She says happily walking into her huge closet. I jump to my feet and over to her. This is like an episode of cribs. Of course her closet is extravagant. All white marble. Her room is a blush pink. Not my favorite but to each their own. “Alright! So I’m thinking little black dress for you and I’m going with this pink one!” She shouts running over to me handing me this tiny dress. I gulp.. “Uh I don’t think I can wear this Kimi.. Asher will be here and he’s not going to approve of it.” I say to her. “Don’t you worry your pretty little head on that love. I got him covered. He will be busy all night.” She says with a giant smile. “Ew gross.” I say pushing her away from me as we both laugh. “Alright I won’t say no more! I’m off to get dressed in the bathroom you can change here if you want no one can see.” She says walking out and into her bathroom. I look at the dress in my hand again and say f***k it. I quickly put it on. It’s definitely short and tight. Oh boy. I don’t know how I feel about this. I’ve never wore something like this to bed let alone people I go to school with. The nerves are hitting me hard now.. Kimi walks back in and she looks gorgeous per usual. “Dang girl! Look at you. All the guys are gonna find you yummy!” She says with a smirk. I just nervously laugh at her.. “I can’t wear this! I’m terrified..” I say to her walking to her sofa. She follows me. “It’s okay to be nervous but you look beautiful. I’m here for you. If you want to call it a night you can come up to my parents lounge. I will give you the code. Only way of getting in.” She says to me and I drop my mouth. “A code? Sh.it are they spies?” I say to her and she laughs “Oh no just very good attorneys.” She says taking the key out of her bra and I put it in mine. “Thank you Kimi. For being the best friend I’ve ever had. You have no idea.” I say and she hugs me tight. “You are such a great person Aspen it’s hard not to be your friend. Sometimes new places bring the best out of you. I’m so happy you guys moved here.” She says to me and we hear someone clear their throat. “Hey sorry to interrupt. We just got here. Simone said you were up here.” Asher says. “Hey bro. Your not interrupting I’m gonna head down and help Simone. Kimi needs to finish getting ready why don’t you help her out.” I say standing and he gasps seeing how I’m dressed. I laugh. “Wait what..” He starts to say and I laugh again. “I will see you later brother! Have a good time.” I say to him. I turn my head quickly smiling at Kimi and she sends me a wink. I turn back walking out her room wanting to barf at their cuteness. I give myself a quick pep talk. No one knows us here so I will be strong and make the best of it. I walk down the stairs grateful I’m still in my sneakers. I look around and Kayce is back setting up tables and Simone is helping the DJ. She was now wearing a red short dress. She’s beautiful like Kimi too. So is Kayce. “Hey do you guys need help?” I ask. “Yes! I need all the solo cups in the kitchen if you can get them. Sev is bringing in the kegs with Matty and Danny. You look great by the way!” She says happily and points to the right side. I see the cabinets so I walk over there. Walking into the room I see the huge island. Gorgeous kitchen. Literally everything here is. I grab the three bags of cups and turn around to see the boys coming in carrying the kegs Kayce was talking about. I’ve never drank but I watch tv and I’m not an i***t so of course I recognize it.. Sev sees me first. “Cuz my eyes.. Where are your clothes?” He says and I laugh. “I think she looks great. Save me a dance.” Danny says with a wink and I make eye contact with him for a moment. I was surprised so I laughed. He’s a sweetheart. I don’t spare Matty a glance because I can feel his glare on his brother and I. “Guess we will see. Hope you guys have fun. I gotta bring these to Kayce.” I say and walk past them. I help Kayce with more setting up and before we know it we get it done and people start showing up. The party is up and bumping. I guess it’s not too loud but enough for everyone to have a good time without having unwanted guests like the po.po show up. Kimi and Asher come over to me when I went to grab a drink. They looked happy. I was grossed out but happy for them. “Hey having fun?” She says to me smiling. “Yeah it hasn’t been bad. People have been arriving so I’m sure it will be good.” I say to them. “Sounds good girl! I’m gonna show Asher the rest of the house. Have so much fun babes!” She says dragging Ash away before he has any say. I just laugh.. “There’s that laugh that makes me smile.” I hear Ben’s voice and I turn around. “Hey!” I shout and hug him. He hugs me back. “You clean up nice.” He says to me with a smile. “Your not to bad yourself. I love the leather jacket.” I say to him. “Thanks I knew the ladies would dig it. So wanna do some shots?” He says wiggling his eyebrows holding a small bottle in his hand. I laugh. “Sure one won’t hurt.” I say taking a sip. “Ew it’s disgusting and burns my throat.. What is that?” I say to him. He laughs. “It’s rum.” He says taking a sip. “Well don’t look now Benny your number one fan is walking this way. May I add in a much shorter black dress then myself.” I say to him in my most fake voice ever and he rolls his eyes at me. “Save me please.” He says begging. “No can do. I’m single as a pringle and ready to mingle.” I say to him smirking. “What no.. You can stay here with me. I’m single too.” He says chuckling low. “Yes but you come with that as baggage so no thank you. Be nice! You made her this way.” I say laughing at him as Sophie approach’s us. “Hey handsome.. Nice dress Aspen. Guess we had the same idea.” She says and I hear the snootiness in her tone. “Love a good black dress.” I said confidently.. What was I saying? It’s my first time in one! She will sniff it out.. “I’d say.” She says looking at me before her eyes are on Ben. “Well y’all have fun. I’m gonna go dance with the girls!” I say and ditch them as quick as possible. I walk through a bunch of people as now Kimi’s house is filling up quick. People everywhere. I see the tables Kayce set up. She told me it’s a game called beer pong everyone loves to play at parties. She was standing there with a beautiful redheaded girl next to her and a ton of guys I hardly recognized except for Carter who was watching me like a hawk. I keep walking and head for the music.
