" Hey Mom!" I called out passing my mom who was busy organising some new crockery.
She grunted " You're home."
I hummed in acknowledgment before heading to my room.
It was small room with not much going on... But in the past having nothing at all helped my panic stricken self to cope.
The only problem was now when I sat down in the quietness of the room, in the dim light. I could still hear laughter and shrieking.
My heart had been pounding all day and now... I felt overwhelmed.
You f*****g worm.
Disgusting fag!
You're not normal.
You're not right in the brain.
Pervert
Sicko
My eyes began to tear at reminders of before.
What I did today... wasn't right. What... If he was just using me? Or making fun of me....
I inhaled sharply lying back down on my bed in fetal position.
I was disgusting... I had something wrong with me. And it was never going to go away!
-
" Hey, Peter!" Finally another weekend and my friend Peter had come to visit me in the town square.
He chuckled " This place is so cool! You needed to show me around mate!"
I couldn't help but smirk as he grabbed hold of my shoulders and pushed me around the area.
I had taken him to the markets, buying bits and bobs.
And then we returned to a local cafe I had been to before... As if it were deja vu Peter chose to sit at the table I had been sat at with Ysander only a week ago.
Peter smiled up, dark blue eyes at me.
" You look like you really got out and about since you came here. Hell you even seem more confident!"
Peter was like me. In school I had been bullied about being gay and didn't really get out much.
But Peter kept his sexuality under lock and key. He was on the schools football team after all. Last thing he wanted was to cause a riot.
Peter winked at me " So... Met any cute faces?"
I frowned at him " No... I kinda... Can't think about relationships with everything that happened before. The moment everything feels right... I go into panic attack mode."
Peter smiled softly " Well... You've come leaps and bounds. Hell when you suggested we hang out in public I knew something was different. I think you've got some of your mojo back!"
I couldn't help but smile " Maybe a little."
Peter smiled brighter before leaning in.
" Hey! Its only lunch time... How about we go catch a movie after?"
I nodded in agreement. Yeah. I had got some of my mojo back.
-
" I preferred lord of the rings just cause there was so much more going on. But like.. The hobbit seemed more easy going and not as thrilling..."
I scoffed listening to Peter talk between munching popcorn.
" Well... I'm guessing you've never read the hobbit."
He glanced at me " I did. I read the size of the book and thought no way in hell!"
I couldn't help but smile.
It was nice hanging out with an old friend.
The theatre quietened as we left the room only then I noticed a call for me " Taylor!?"
Looking back Ysander was out with Mike and Jay, who were chomping away the remainder of their popcorn.
He nudged them to carry on before coming over and glancing at Peter.
" Who's this?"
Oh God...
" Uh! This is Peter. "
Peter almost naturally had jumped into defensive mode, wearing a serious expression. He held out his hand to Ysander " I'm Pete. Tay's mate from London. I came to hang out over the weekend."
Ysander seemed to pout for like a moment before smiling and shaking his hand.
" I'm Ysander." He then glanced at me and mumbled.
" Me and Taylor are in the same class at school..."
Peter raised his brows at him in some kind of acknowledgement before chuckling " Did you wanna come with us? We are gonna get some drinks and head down to the gaming bar."
Ysander glanced back and forth between us before smiling " Sure. Can I... Invite Mike and Jay?"
I nodded " Yeah sure..."
-
Michael and Jay had instantly run off ahead fighting over a race car game
Peter stayed nearby me chuckling " Oh cool check this out!"
He ran off up ahead when I heard Ysander growl beside me " You guys are not like... On a date or something right?"
I flinched at his negative tone.
" Uh! No... Peter is my best friend."
Ysander sighed " I don't know... He doesn't look at you like that. That's for sure."
And off he went storming off ahead.
What was his deal??
I ran up ahead to catch up with them only to notice they had both taken up two DDR boards.
Peter scoffed " You sure you know how to play?"
Ysander groaned " I don't care about the game, I care about winning."
Peter placed his arms on his hips " Oho! Is that so!?"
He hurriedly turned and began fidgeting with the game.
It was set to a difficult setting and soon enough music started up.
Both of them looked silly jumping and stomping around on the board. Sometimes confused which box they were supposed to step on but in the end I realised Peter was getting worked up and impatient.
It left him open to many mistakes. Ysander won with grace and it kinda made me feel a little bit happy deep down. He was so cool and collected.
He jumped down from the platform and smiled at me. Other people had now joined the queue and were eager for their turns. Peter came over pouting like an an angry puppy.
" Next time. I'm gonna win!"
Ysander smirked " Like I said. I don't care about the game."
He glanced at me quickly " I care about winning."
My heart fluttered in my chest.
Especially when Peter ran ahead to find more games to play, but as I tried to catch up Ysander took hold of my hand slowing me down to his pace.
