Saint Andrews was a quiet secondary school on this little hill, in this small town in the countryside. Safe to say I was a little nervous having moved with my mom from the big city where people were so different and colourful. Things seemed just so quiet out here. The teacher smiled at me with ruby red lips " Taylor? Do you wanna take a seat behind Mandy just there?" I looked over to where the girl was sitting, her eyes widened at me in shock. I'm not the most outgoing of guys and so you can probably understand why I chose to just be super quiet about things and focus on getting used to the teachers, the lessons and just overall the more quieter vibe of the countryside. Break time, we remained indoors as it had begun to pelt down with rain, even though it was sunny outside. I scoffed even in the countryside England was as English as ever. I couldn't help but smile to myself. Mandy glanced back at me from her seat, blue eyes critiquing me as they hovered over me. I returned a quiet glance. " Um... Hi?" I managed to say at long last only for her to smile. " You're the kid from London right?" I nodded quietly " Yeah. Hi.." She gleamed like a content kitten, "It's nice to meet you. I'm Mandy Cotton. If there's ever anything you need to know just wave me over okay?" She seemed nice and no doubt she would be helpful if I ever needed it but now there was a ruckus coming from the other side of the classroom. I hadn't realised but the boys and girls had split the classroom. All the boys sat all the way to the right now; some standing, surrounding this one guy. He smiled listening to one of his friends tell a funny story with over exaggerated gestures. The crew of guys all seemed to laugh and chuckle between themselves but I couldn't find myself more distracted by the guy with the good smile. Something about him was like a magnet. The way he smiled showed a genuine interest and fondness for his friend's words and tales. He had the prettiest platinum blond hair and pale crystal blue eyes. Before I even realised I was caught staring. It was like fire. He'd glanced over and lost that excited glow, now filled with something like confusion. I winced turning away as if I didn't just full blown gawk at a dude. No Taylor. I had to switch schools twice because of this and we are not switching again! He glanced up at his friends that were standing, jumping up as well. " Gimme a second. I'll be right back." Where was he going? He smiled at me as he walked in my direction. Again I looked away hoping he wasn't coming my way. " Hey new kid! Taylor right?" My mouth hung open realising now his blue eyes were filled with a playful glow, a smirk on his lips. " Yeah..." I began, keeping an eye on him as he pulled up a nearby chair smiling as he sat adjacent to me. " I'm Ysander. When did you arrive in Sparrows?" I bit my lip, noticing how now when I looked up at him he was focusing back on his friends. " Last Friday..." I blinked up biting my lip. " Spent the week unpacking stuff..." I exhaled. It felt a little uncomfortable with people asking so much about me but he just smiled and nodded calmly " Long move from London to here..." I smiled " Yeah... But its comfortable here." He smiled brighter " You should say hi to the others." He nodded back at the other guys who were all talking and laughing, shoving each other around. I smiled to be polite, but deep down I was kind of anxious. In my other schools I didn't really get along with other guys. " What team do you support mate?" Michael asked. I frowned " I'm not... really a football kind of guy." His eyes widened at me as Jason pointed finger guns at me " Oh!!! A badminton kinda dude." Again I frowned looking over at Ysander who smiled softly. I exhaled focusing back on Jason " No... I just don't like sports." The guys shrugged looking at each other " Nerds..." They huffed under their breath. Ysander mumbled quietly " Its okay. They're just jealous we find exams easier." I couldn't help but smile at that, another guy who wore glasses rushed up to look me over before extending a hand. " Taylor! Nice to meet you I'm Marvin!" I smiled noticing the two books Marv was holding. " Jane Eyre...Dracula... I'm guessing you like to time travel too?" I smiled at him as his pupils seemed to shrink on me like I was the only one who existed. " You're an avid reader, I'm assuming?" I bobbed my head once in agreement " You'd be right to guess that. I like my fiction." He smiled " Me too!" The others had begun to look at each other confusedly evidently... Not understanding what we were talking about. But deep down I felt it would all be OK and I was... Fitting in somewhat already. Heck this was still a better response than what had happened before. " I uh... Prefer reading things one can put into practise..." Ysander cleared his throat and only now I noticed his eyes were still locked on me. " Like what?" I asked, the others had gone quiet as Ysander smirked running a hand through his hair. His cheeks were lighting up pink as he quietly thought up and idea but finally he spoke. " From psychological research, it was found that you can make anyone uncomfortable... By either staring at their shoes for a long period of time, or if they're talking focus on their forehead." I chuckled as did Jason " Bullshit! How do you even prove that!?" Ysander smirked as he looked back at me " Well considering he's lit up like a tomato I'd say its working." My jaw fell open. I was a Guinea Pig!?
