It was now Friday and I was really beginning to feel exhausted. Miss Rudy was reminding us that we had to revise for mock tests that would begin in March but hey it wasn't even Christmas yet, we had a long way to go.
" You're good at English huh?" Mandy gleamed leaning into her hand on the desk next to me. She had decided to hang out with me all week and I'd gotten to know more about her.
I pouted staring up at the empty board.
" Not good at it as much as my mind gets so lost in it, I forget that I was even writing but more like living what I write. Its almost as natural as breathing. "
She chuckled quietly focusing back on the playground outside.
We had stuck around waiting for Marvin the gather his new books from the Library but he had intended to tell us all about this robot he'd gone to see in Switzerland during one of his holidays.
Suddenly I noticed hurried footsteps making their way towards our room from outside.
We were sat in the shadows of the unlit room, so the tall dark figure who stood panting in the doorway caught us off guard.
I bit my lip when I recognised the familiar tugging sensation in my chest.
" Uh... I'm looking for Marv..." Ysander ran a hand through his pale blond hair.
I just pretended not to notice him.
He was clearly manipulative and I wasn't gonna let him make an ass of me again.
Mandy chuckled " Marv's gonna be right back, he's just gone to get the latest books from those series he likes."
Ysander sighed heavily before switching the light on with a click.
The whole place lit up like a glowing palace and as always when I glanced over, his perfect bright eyes were fixed on me.
I pretended to focus back on my book as he walked in with heavy footsteps towards us.
" What are you reading?" He asked in a soft voice.
I rolled my eyes at myself. Sure he was gonna act nice now...
I glanced up at him biting my lip.
" Lord of the Flies." I mumbled barely loud enough to hear as he bit his lips at me.
" Any good?"
He folded his arms onto the desk opposite me now getting cosy in his seat.
I stared back down at the book.
" It's... Pretty interesting. I inhaled finding this air to be way too quiet and tense.
I glanced over at Mandy who was silently flickering between us two.
I raised my brows at her miming the words Talk to him.
She just silently smirked and Ysander continued with his questions.
" Did you... Already see the new Library. The big one that's opened on the other side of town?"
I frowned at him closing my book.
" Yeah... Marv took me on Wednesday actually... He was super excited about it..."
Ysander went quiet a moment before tapping at the table as if it was a drum.
He cleared his throat " Did he... Like show you around the village centre or..."
I shook my head quickly " We got food and stuff but... "
He instantly smiled " Then let's go tonight!"
I flinched. Oh great.
I tried to smile " Nah... I think I'm good."
Mandy chuckled " Hey, if me and Marv come along you haven't got a choice."
I exhaled scowling at her... I could feel my muscles tense at the irritation.
I glanced up at Ysander who was looking way too pleased with himself.
-
"Don't you have other friends to be hanging out with...?"
Ysander chuckled as we tailed Marvin and Mandy through the busy market area.
" I can hang out with whoever I want. Everyone in class is a friend to me and I figured I'd be generous and give you the grand tour."
He glanced down at me and his eyes seemed to be filled with some kind of challenge as he became quiet.
I bit my lip looking away from him.
" You didn't have to make fun of me in front of the guys. I already know I'm not all that tough... Or all that into sports."
He chuckled " I wasn't trying to make fun of you Taylor. I was just... Trying to show off something neat."
I scoffed " oh yeah well guess what!"
I looked up at him and he was smirking at me his cheeks still flushed pink, probably from the cold.
" What?" He purred.
I bit my lip stomping off ahead of him " I wasn't the only one who was red as a tomato!"
I growled at Mandy as soon as I was near enough " Why are you running off ahead!"
Marvin jolted up with a squeal when he noticed I'd caught up.
" Taylor please. A calmer tone of voice will do." He glared at me with frightened eyes.
I groaned "Sorry."
I leered back at Mandy " Someone keeps trying to leave me in the company of the devil."
A soft groan came from behind me as Ysander caught up to us " Oh come on... That's not nice. How about I buy us guys a round of coffee?"
Mandy seemed eager for the invite glancing around with a smile... I personally couldn't stand the look on Ysander's face.
-
" Here. Its cooler." Ysander handed me my cup of coffee but I could feel my face getting hotter instead.
" Thanks" I muttered hurriedly sitting down at the coffee shop table.
And again thanks to Mandy, I was stuck on a small two person table with Ysander.
I stared outside at the clock tower and the old fashioned buildings.
A soft purr came from before me " What do you make of this little town called Sparrows then?"
I glanced back at him and felt my stomach tighten.
His eyes had that look of fondness in them like he had when listening to his friends.
" There's nothing like it...London... Doesn't even compare..."
He smiled " If that's so... You have to go out with me again... I'll show you more things about it..."
I glanced up into those eyes and they were...
Filled with something; a hunger, a curiosity, something.
