"Please, don't ..." I screamed as a knife edge of intense pain shot through my bloodstream, ripping my whole existence apart, but all I cared about were the precious jewels in my womb.

He crouched down to my level, cupped my face, and laid a soft kiss on my forehead.

"It's all for the greater good," He said, looking away. His actions contradict his words.

"What about them?" I tried to reach out to him but he abruptly stood up, putting some distance between us.

"I, Gerald Walton, Alpha of the Crimson Moon Pack, reject Amelia Evans as my mate and Luna." He calmly said and I swore at the moon goddess for putting me through this.

**********

After Amelia escapes the brutality of her Alpha, she encounters her mate, Gerald, who saves her from her chasers. Her joy was short-lived when he rejected her for having a weak wolf.

Amelia accepted his rejection but Gerald took it as a challenge and marked her as his own.

In the face of external danger, life plays a tricky game on her as Gerald chooses to save his pack while rejecting her and risking her life. Unknown to him, he was ruining three lives. She vowed to get her revenge and give him a taste of his medicine.

Fortunately, she is given a second chance at life and love. And her second-chance mate stands by her and protects her. Then she finds out that she has the said gift that Gerald rejected her for, all along.

Gerald wants her back. Will she return to her first mate who regrets his action or will she be with her second chance mate, the one who loves her unconditionally?

Shattered Promise
Amelia's POV “A part to serenity is paved with discretion. Never break your promise.” My mother's nails dug into my shoulders, her eyes stern. “I won't.” I blinked away the tears, but the force of nature overpowered me. “Take her away.” The Chief of Guard ordered. “No, no, please don't.” I broke into a sob, holding her like my life depended on it. But what I thought was best discretion only paved the way for pain, chaos, and eventually death. I groaned in pain as I came to, after days of t*****e. I grabbed the bottle of water sitting in front of me without thinking and uncapped it. The moment I brought it to my lips, words prickled my ears. “It would be a waste if she dies without having to taste her.” One of the guards said. But it was the response of the second that made me puke. “Her gorgeous body won't go to waste, man. I would have her dead, or alive.” He groaned huskily. “f*****g bastards,” I grunted in disgust. They growled in response but didn't touch me. I gulped the water down until someone walked in. The air was charged and a sense of familiarity clothed me. “Mother?” I choked out, scrambling on all fours. Blood trickled from the gash on my forehead, down my sticky face onto the floor. I ignored the warning siren blowing off in my head, and neither did I pay any attention to the immense pain in my lower back. I could hear the soft crunching of bones, definitely some broken ribs but I didn’t care. “Please, stop.” I kept chanting in my head, ignoring the nagging feeling that had wrapped my heart, squeezing it mercilessly. The furious organ hammered at a deafening volume, but the familiar voice of my mother droned everything out and fueled my desire, pushing me forward. “You promised to let her go— ARGH!” she screamed helplessly, whimpering in submission as more t*****e hit her skin. No doubt the same kind of pain they had inflicted on me. I collapsed after taking a step, but giving up wasn't part of the deal. I dragged my tattered body towards the door. “I'm so–sorry.” I cried, panting harshly. “I shouldn’t have left you there.” I cried amidst the pain. I eventually reached the iron bars and wrapped my fingers around it, my knuckles turning white from gripping it hard. “Get the hell away from her!!” I screamed, tears blurring my vision. “Amelia?” Her lips quivered the moment she saw me. Her beautiful brown locks had turned white, she looked older and one of her eyes was swollen. “Thank goodness. I can’t believe they brought you here of all places.” She squeaked, sobbing and trying to reach me at the same time. The cell of Duskfire Pack was renovated earlier this year, but I took a closer look at it and my breath hitched. It looked different, like a cave that had been saved from crumbling to bits. “This is….” I trailed off, as a certain memory hit me. The story of the horrendous cell room that has been passed down for generations. I gasped at the realization of where we were and the gravity of the situation. They had moved me during my state of unconsciousness. “Please let her go, please. I would do anything. I beg of you, please. Just please leave her alone.” I stumbled on my words with wide eyes, pulling at the rusted iron bars desperately just to get to her, to touch her, to confirm that she wasn't just my hallucination. “AMELIA!” My mother yelled. The ground shook and silence descended on us. “You made a promise, remember?” She said, her eyes were filled with horror and pleas. The second one was directed at me. “It will be my biggest achievement if you honor your promise dear, especially today.” She mumbled the last part carefully, but her eyes glistened with tears. Her words, instead of calming me, caused worry to snake through me. “Shut it, b***h!” A bulky man slapped her, and the sound echoed through the cave. “MOTHER!!” I yelled and a surge of energy coursed through my bloodstream, bringing me to my feet. My blood was heating as a result of her pain. The guard that slapped her grunted in pain from the dark part of the cave, opposite my cell. My mother looked in my direction and stiffened. Her resolve to stop me was broken. The other guard, Dev or something, looked horrified as his gaze met mine. “W-what in….,” He stuttered, backing away from my mother. A dark chuckle got my attention and I looked around but we were the only ones here. “With your powers, we could have taken over the world,” A deep baritone voice halted my actions. “Remember, if I can't have you, nobody else can, not even Calsey.” He sneered and the tension heightened. “Alpha Edward?” I asked in disbelief. He was the one that I could think of. But this was an unfamiliar voice. “Who are you?” I growled, then paused. Did I just growl? “It’s left for you to find out.” I heard him say. “Proceed.” He added. “Amelia!” My mother's voice rang through the dark space, piercing my thoughts, but it was too late. Blood splashed on my forehead and slowly dropped on my lips. My brows furrowed at the action. I looked up and saw my mother lying in the pool of her blood, missing an arm. “NO!!” A cold shiver shot through my spine and my mind completely blanked. Then something snapped in me. I rose to my feet and pulled at the iron bars with rage, hitting and punching it, screaming for my mother to look at me. The fight for control started but I lost for the first time. “Let’s get out—” The bulky man groaned. His words got caught in his throat as I jumped out of the cage and landed right in front of him.
