|15| Drowning

|15| Drowning I like doing nothing but I guessed I've reached the limit where I wanted to do something productive for the first time without reminding myself of my responsibilities and other stuffs that require my attention. I wanted to do something but Gavin just had to be so strict with me! "I still have like four things that I needed to accomplish!" I whined as I give Gavin my cutest beautiful eyes ever but he didn't budge even for tiny bit. When can I even finish my bargain with God? Aish.  "Is that the bargain you were telling me about the other week?" I nodded my head to him and he gave me a sigh before sitting to a single seater couch next to my bed.  It's been two days when Gavin, Maria, and Taehyung rushed me to the hospital after I had nosebleed. They were so overreacting! It was just a nosebleed and it happened only once! It's as if I will die from it. Tsk. Good thing today is Sunday so they wouldn't have to ditch class for me or else I will be the Incredible Hulk Taehyung peg me to be.  "Can I see your list?" Gavin asked so I fished my phone from the pocket of my hospital uniform—whatever, and gave it to him after opening my notes. Gavin's eyebrow arched as soon as he read the note in my phone. "When did you come up with this list?" He asked while browsing the content of the note.  I looked up trying to remember when I come up with that list of things I wanted to do so I could be happy. "It was days after meeting you for the first time," I said and shrugged.  He smirked. "I kept on thinking about you and told myself that I would do the bargain if ever I meet you again and surprisingly, I did." I added. Gavin looked so smug with the proud smile plastered on his face. He must be thinking I've fallen in love in him the first time I met him.  "Finn's Bargain with God, huh?" He murmured. He swiped the screen down with his lips in a small smile. "1. Make friends with other people." He looked at me and smiled a little. "Aw, you wanted me to be your friend the first time you saw me?"  "You looked like you can protect me with those gorgeous inks on your arms. You got me with those tatts." I shrugged and gave him a smirked. Gavin looked proud and even flexed his biceps in front of me. After doing it for awhile, he suddenly stopped as if he realized something. "You didn't peg me for a gangster, did you?" He asked with his voice laced with slight accusation. Laughingly, I shook my head.  "I thought you were a strange brunette dude and a softie the first time I met you," I said while still laughing. Gavin gaped on me which made me laugh more. Oh my God!  He looked so cute that I wanted to keep him and be my keychain. "For the first time someone called me strange and softie," he scoffed playfully and then leaned his face towards mine with his elbows propped on the hospital bed.  "Why am I a softie?" Gavin asked. He really didn't have any idea why? "I can't imagine myself being one." He said while raising his eyebrow. Seriously?  "Let's just say that your character doesn't match your physical appearance but it doesn't matter," I explained. He looked interested with what I'm saying so I continued explaining the thing he can't see about himself. "Let's see hmm...2. Come over a friend's house." He raised his eyebrows as his mouth went 'o'. "Are you done with this?" He asked. I nodded my head, "when you first asked me to come over for dinner." I answered. His eyes turned into slits like he's thinking something  "3. Hang out with friends." He looked at me with a small smile. "We always hang out so this one's crossed out too." I nodded in agreement.  Maria has a liking of trying different cafés and restaurants around NYC. She's been experimenting on some recipes that she wanted to add to their menu and as far as I know, Taehyung was the one helping her with this thing by being the taste tester aka the human guinea pig. So far, all were good and delicious except for that one thing that made Taehyung vomit after tasting it.  The sight of Taehyung wanting to vomit over and over is horrifying and traumatic!  "4. Experience sleepover." Gavin eyed me weirdly as he read that one aloud. "You never did that before? Wow. Here I thought you were that rebellious kid who doesn't come home and crash at her buddy's home." He commented which made me sneer at him.  I stared at him flatly, "Gavin, I don't even have a buddy in the first place." I told him sarcastically. When he realized what he'd said, he laughed his a*s off and I slapped his arms a little bit in annoyance.  "These things...you should've experienced them by now," he whispered. "I guessed my life is way too much different than the normal ones," I shrugged. Gavin eyed me weirdly like he's against with what I've said. "Well Miss Gray, there's no such thing as normal life." He pointed out. "We do have what I like to call the stereotype life. Those are what we have seen on tv that the majority of us try to imitate."  "Like a model?" I asked.  Gavin nodded his head. "Like a model." "Then, if those people are following a model to live their life, can we really say that they're living their own life?" I wondered.  "Like beauty standards, for an example. People have a fixed mindset of beauty standards and if you don't have the qualities then the society will tell you to change just to fit in," I said. "That's some serious s**t," he shook his head smiling.  I looked at him straight into his eyes with a small smile on my face. "I don't know if I'm doing okay right now but I can definitely say that I'm doing better and that's what matters." I shrugged and tousled his hair. Gavin was just staring at me with his eyes full of mixed emotions. I really love his eyes. They gave me the warmth that I longed for. "I'm so proud of you," he said and grasp the both of my hands with a smile on his face. "You've come to this far. You'll do great." "I hope so," I whispered. Gavin and I were cozying while doing Netflix and chill until sun sets. He has been talking nonstop and I was just there, admiring his pretty face with a smile on my face. "Haven't I told you that you're the greatest thing I ever received?" I asked. He gaped on me for a moment but immediately came back into his senses.  "Ahm, no?" He said. Grinning, I said, "now you know." The door suddenly opened revealing the doctor in his white robe. "Are you Miss Gray's  guardian?" Gavin looked back at me before nodding his head. "Yes I am," he stood up from his seat and faced the doctor and they spoke in whispered voices. The doctor and Gavin looked really serious while talking that I can't help but to be nervous. "We need to run some tests as soon as possible." That was the first and the last thing that I heard from the doctor that day.  Gavin faced me smiling but with a troubled look in his eyes. "You need to stay here for some tests to make sure that you're healthy, Sera." Gavin said. His choice of words troubled me and the nervousness that I felt doubled. "Is there something wrong with me?" I asked. "They found something from the previous tests they did." He clasped my hands and I felt its coldness. "W-what is it?" Nervous, I tightened the hold of my hands into Gavin's. "There's too much white blood cells in your blood—" "You sounded like grandma," I said and chortled a laugh but it subsided when a thought suddenly strikes in my head. He stopped talking and looked at me with wide eyes. "Grandma," I whispered. The horrors on my face is now visible. "f**k, that's it." "You mean—" "That's what she told me when I asked her what's wrong with her," my eyes brimmed with tears and I found my hands shaking hard in Gavin's grasp. My chest feels so heavy with the emotions drowning me to the point that Gavin embraced me to calm me down. "I think..." I heaved a heavy sigh as my tears fell down continuously. I looked into his eyes with my shaky eyes. "I think I have Leukemia, Gavin." # end of chapter fifteen
