|14| Grabbing I always find things coming up together unexpectedly a good sign. I always tell to myself that those scenarios are worth remembering. Who’s not gonna be surprised for having something that you’ve thought wouldn’t happen, right?  But seeing my parents sitting at the living room  early in the morning in their usual sophisticated attire is a different situation. I’m surprised but this is not a good sign.  Great. Just…great.  “What are you doing here?” I asked them not throwing a single glance to them as I walked straight to the kitchen to get the pre-made vegetable salad inside my refrigerator.  The sound of my Mom’s heels echoed inside the whole unit and I can’t help but to flinched with the sound it emitted.  “You’re not going to school today. We need to have your dress tailored for this year’s year end gala. You need to be the best dressed, Finn.” Mom said and I can hear her voice laced with elegance and grace. I stifle a low laugh. What made her do this, huh?  “We need to make sure to let them know that the Grays are always on the top,” she added and that made me lose my appetite. I returned my food inside the refrigerator and grabbed my bag from the island table and turned my back.  “Why are you even doing this?” I asked.  “We are doing this for you Finn. What’s wrong—” I laughed sarcastically to cut her off. I faced my parents whose faces were crumpled in disbelief. What now? It’s not like they weren’t used to this? “That was a good joke!” I said as I catch my breath.  “Don’t act like you care because you don’t,” I wiped the tears from the laughter that I made and shook my head. “Stop telling me that you’re doing things for my sake just to console your damn feelings. You’re doing those to feed your freaking egos.”  “Why are you being so difficult, Finn!?” Dad said angrily and his voice resonated to the whole room.  It wasn’t the first time he became like this. He’s been like this since forever. There’s nothing new!  “We didn’t raised you to be rude like this!”  “You didn’t raised me in the first place!” A loud slap echoed through the walls and my face stung with the intensity of my Mom’s slap. Her eyes were brimming with tears.  “We fed you, gave you clothes, gave you a roof under your head, gave you all the things that you needed—and you’re telling me that we didn’t raised you!?” Mom’s voice were so loud. Her face was screaming the anger that she’s feeling.  “I only want one thing but you can’t even give it to me!” I know I sounded like a whining bratty b***h but this is…what I feel. For the first time I’m telling them something about me.  “Say it! Name it! And I’ll give it to you!” “You wanted to know!? Really!? You wanted to f*****g know!? Wow! That’s a f*****g first time in my f*****g life!” “Seraphine Mallory!” Dad growled angrily.  Angered, I asked them once again.  “You wanted to know!? Fine! I want to have parents because all my life I had none!” Both of them stilled shocked with what I’ve said.  “Can you give me my parents? I bet my life that you cannot!” Mom gaped at me while Dad has his brows furrowed in disbelief like he heard something impossible. “You weren’t there…all my life you weren’t there,” a lone tear fell down as I tried to keep my face straight.  “You suck in parenting,” I stormed out of the unit furiously only to see Gavin waiting for me few steps away from the door.  He smiled at me wearily and opened his arms as if he knew something had happened.  “Cry it out, Sera.” As if on cue, I broke down in front of him again.  “Ssh. Everything will be alright.” *** “Are you okay, Finn?” Taehyung asked when he suddenly approached me while I’m resting after my training. It hasn’t been twenty minutes since I was training but I felt like I’ve been here for hours.  “Hm, yeah. I’m just a little tired,” I replied.  Taehyung’s forehead creased. “We’ve been training regularly and I’ve observed that you get tired easily these past few days. Are you okay?” My face fell for awhile but I easily recovered my senses.  That’s…true. My mind was preoccupied with the incident with my parents few weeks ago that I haven’t realized what was happening to me. I easily get tired which was unusual of me because I train regularly.  Maybe it’s stress. Yes, stress that’s it. “I’m just stressed,” I smiled to convince Taehyung that I’m okay. He looked like he doesn’t buy my words but he doesn’t have any choice.  “Rest when you feel like it,” he tapped my shoulders and left to monitor other students with their training.  “This is just stress. Snap out of it.” I told myself.  With a sigh, I got up from my seat and trained like there’s no tomorrow.  “Damn, your roundhouse kick is really awesome,” Tabitha, a junior student and a fellow black belter whom I fought awhile ago in a sparring, said with amazement laced in her voice.  “Your execution was flawless. Wow. I need to learn that one!” I simply nodded and smiled a bit as I dressed up.  I showered to freshen up because I’ll be with Gavin and the rest again. I bet they’re waiting at the cafeteria right now.  “Oh em gee! You’ve got a big bruise! Did I hit you hard on your arm? But that’s strange. I can’t remember hitting your arms awhile back,” she said with her brows furrowed, completely curious about the bruise on my arm that I’ve no idea where I got it.  Purplish bruise in a size of a baseball is in my arm. It looks really nasty.  “Ah, I got it when I bumped into the furniture at my house,” I lied flawlessly and avoided her eyes. “I didn’t peg you to be a klutz,” Tabitha chuckled. “See you around, Finn!” Shaking my head, I heaved a heavy sigh. People who exercise and train hard doesn’t bruise just because they bump into a furniture.  Whatever. My lips turned up for a bit as soon as I saw Maria bickering with Taehyung while Gavin was just watching his cousin and his best friend trying to kill each other with words in front of him.  “Why did you tell Brandon that you’re my boyfriend!?” Maria snapped and slapped Taehyung’s arms in annoyance. Taehyung winced, probably because it stung. The way Maria slapped his arm was superb and I definitely heard the loud plopping sound of her hand into his arms.  “Because I am your boy friend!? I’m a boy and your friend! What seems to be the problem!? Maria’s hand stopped midair as soon as she heard what Taehyung said.  Stupid korean dude.  “Just tell her that you love her,” I interrupted with a tray on my hand and sat beside Gavin who’s lips were in a smirk. Taehyung and Maria looked at me with their shocked expression. I raised my brow and faked a reaction as if I’m shocked with what I’ve said. “You’re friends, right? I mean you love your friends, don’t you?” I asked innocently, twisting my previous statement. Gavin had to bit back his laughter and covered it with a cough. Taehyung’s ears were red like Maria’s face.  “I heard Brandon’s reputation is quite colorful,” I shrugged like it’s nothing before mixing the vegetable salad that I ordered awhile back.  “Taehyung must’ve told that so Brandon won’t hover around you unless…you want him around you?” Like a flash, Maria shook her head and slumped into the seat before me. I saw how Taehyung sighed and gave me a glare but I only smirked at him. He’s too slow like a turtle!  “I’m so done with him,” she said and rolled her eyes like an it girl that she is. “Yeah? Like I’m so done knowing something but acting like I know nothing,” I murmured. Good thing it was only Gavin who heard it or else Maria will bombard me with questions that I will answer honestly.  “I know something that you don’t,” Gavin whispered and winked at me when he saw me looking at him. Smirking, he leaned his elbow on the table and rest his chin on his hand and watched me as I eat my food.  “And what’s that?” I asked and grabbed my water bottle from my bag to drink.  Gavin suddenly leaned towards me with his lips on my ears as if he’ll whisper. “I like you,”  I choked on my water and my water bottle nearly slipped from my grasp. Damn, Gavin! “Wow. Karma is actually fast,” Taehyung smirked when he saw me struggling. I gave him a glare with my middle finger saluting to him. Damn this korean dude!  “Don’t joke when I’m drinking!” I hissed and Gavin laughed not minding the stares we’re getting from the other students who’re probably weirded out by us.  “Who told you that I am joking?”  My eyes widened with his words.  “Are you f*****g serious!?” Shocked, my eyes widened and my mouth hung open.  Gavin pinched my cheeks and laughed heartily like he’s liking my reaction. I snapped back to reality and eyed him like a vulture.  “You’re so cute when you’re annoyed,” I scowled more and gave him an eye roll. He keeps messing with my feelings! “Cute?” Taehyung commented and snickered afterwards. “Don’t forget that she can beat you with her awesome roundhouse kick, Wraith!  She looks like she’s gonna Incredible Hulk on you!” “Wow. Thank you for the reference, Taehyung.” I sarcastically said.  “No, you doofus! She looked like Maleficent!” Maria sauntered. “With that black aura around her, she sure is the mistress of evil!”  Sighing, I plopped my elbows on the table. “At least Angelina Jolie is gorgeous as f**k,” I shrugged.  “It doesn’t matter,” Gavin said nonchalantly. The three of us looked at Gavin expectantly.  “What doesn’t matter?” Maria pryed with her eyebrow arched. “The way she looked,” he said shrugging.  His eyes met mine and I felt like the time stopped momentarily.  He’s smiling making my heart beats erratically.  “I like her and that’s what matters.” “That was f*****g smooth as f**k!” Taehyung commented and laughed his a*s out. Maria, on the other hand, looked so proud like a mother while clapping her hands.  “I’ve never been so proud of you!” Maria fake cry while fanning her face.  I stifle a low laugh. Ah, crazy friends. What would I do without them? “Mr. Know-It-All likes me, huh?” I said and laughed afterwards. Gavin was just there, staring at us with a small smile on his face.  “Have I told you that you looked like someone I know?” I asked him. With his brows furrowed, he clicked his tongue and ran his hand on his mess of a hair.  “Woah, really? Who is it?” Maria asked, intrigued.  “He looks like my future boyfriend,” I said and shrugged like it was nothing. Taehyung laughed while clapping like a mad seal and Maria squealed as if we’re not in public.  “How’s your heart, Wraith? Can you still breathe?” Taehyung teased Gavin with the playful smirk on his face.  After laughing good for a while, I stilled as I felt hot liquids falling down on my face. Gavin’s eyes instantly widened as he grab a wad of tissue paper and wiped my face with his hands slightly shaking. “f**k! Sera, are you okay!?” He asked worriedly. “V! Call Mr. Carl cos we’re going to the hospital!” Maria ordered and Taehyung was on his cell immediately. A hot liquid fell on my hand. Blood. This is just stress, isn’t it? # end of chapter fourteen
