CHAPTER FIVE

Arianna's pov Marriage? I arched my brow. This was the last thing I expected in return for his help. Men were such unpredictable creatures so there was no way I'll ever let my guard down. "Is marriage the only option?" I frowned. The sound of marriage tortures me, especially what happened with George. Whenever I hear those words I'm constantly reminded of George's betrayal. I unconsciously squeezed my palms. "He was going to suffer for what he did to me." I thought Inwardly. "That is not the only option but that is what I want from you." He smirked. This man in front of me was acting suspicious but I had to throw caution into the wind if I was going to get what I wanted. "Why?" I asked. "As I said earlier, I want to be more than just your one-night stand," Julian replied. "What you want I cannot give you. I don't make promises but I'll marry you." I said with a straight face. I almost scoffed when his face beamed with joy. Was he really happy that we were getting married? I racked my brain in confusion. I pushed those thoughts aside because I had things to do. I didn't have time to start harboring feelings for my baby's daddy. "When can I see my kids." He asked with a stationed gaze. I could tell from his facial expression that he was really worried about them. "After we get married, we'll move in," I said. "Then let's get married tomorrow." He said quickly. I shout a glance at his expression. Everything was moving too fast and I wondered if I was going to keep up. "Don't worry, I have people to take care of the wedding preparations so you won't have to do anything." He explained. I laughed Inwardly. As if I cared about this marriage. On second thought the faster the wedding the faster I can start executing my plans for my revenge. "Alright, but the wedding should be private I don't want too many guests," I said. "I'll try my best." He smirked. I watched as he strode over to the door with a hint of pride and fulfillment. He opened the door, beckoning that I should follow him. "Where are you taking me to?" I asked with a stern gaze. The man was cunning and conniving but what should I expect from a man of his caliber? He worked his way to fame and fortune so it's natural for him to have those features. "Since you are my fiancee, it's time for you to meet my grandmother. She's the only relative I have left so we must pay our respects." He explained. "This marriage isn't real. How many times do I have to spell it out to you." I said. Julian chuckled for a moment then came in front of me. He narrowed down his eyes at me as he reached out to touch my cheeks. I wanted to avert those touches but something stirred up in me the moment I locked eyes with me. I couldn't move, I just stared into his enchanting gaze, allowing his warm hands to work on my face. "When are you going to understand that you're mine." He muttered. Those words brought me back into reality and I quickly knocked his hands away. "I'm not an object." I blinked my eyes furiously as I made my way towards the door. My heart was beating softly but I had to maintain my composure even though my face was already flustered. This man was really dangerous and being close to him was alarming. "Are you okay?" He asked the moment we got into his car and he noticed my flustered state. I cleared my throat and averted my gaze to the window. "I'm good," I muttered. He was teasing me and I hated the kind of effect he was having on me. I sank into the car seat overwhelmed with emotions. I reminded myself not to get swayed away by emotions and feelings but rather focus on the tax ahead. The car came to a halt when Julian pulled up in a garage. He opened the door for me like a gentleman and I couldn't help but roll my eyes. My mind suddenly flashed over to George. When we were together he was always avoiding to be seen with me but I thought it was because he didn't want to cause a scandal. Even though we were engaged we never even saw his parents. The realization that I was used as a tool for my ex-fiancee and my step-sister's tool for amusement still cut deep whenever I recalled those bitter memories. There were days I cried in the past and wished that those memories would disappear and I wouldn't be hunted by their betrayal but unfortunately, it didn't. After everything they had done, they still lived happy lives. A bitter scoff escaped my lips. Since karma decided to be late in delivering her judgment I was going to step in. I felt a hand pulling me close and I jolted into reality. I shot him a glance. "Smile, my grandma is watching," Julian informed me. It was then I realized we were always in Julian's grandmother's room. The woman had a pair of spectacles over her face. She was in her pajamas with a blanket over her legs and her hair was carefully tucked into a bonnet. She looked young to be called a grandma but who am I to judge? "Why are you just standing there?" Julian's grandmother groaned. "Come and have a seat close to this old lady." She gestured at me. For some weird reason, I was beginning to feel nervous. This was the first time I was meeting someone's parents. I took a seat beside the old lady and she had a grin over her face. "Jarvis tells me that this is the woman you had in one stand." Julian's grandmother said bluntly. "What?" Julian and I both said together. *****
