In the small village of Ilisan Remo, nestled in Ogun State, there was a peculiar charm that enveloped the community. The sun had long forgotten this place, and night reigned eternal. The villagers had adapted to this perpetual darkness, finding beauty in the glow of bioluminescent plants that illuminated their lives. The soft, ethereal light cast by the flora painted the streets in shades of blue and green, creating a dreamlike atmosphere that felt both magical and serene. Chima Ihek, born on November 23, 1982, was the third child in a family of six. His father, Mr. Anokwu Ihek, was a respected elder in the village, known for his wisdom and kindness. His mother, Eunice, was the heart of their home, nurturing her children with love and warmth. The Ihek household was filled with laughter and stories, each child contributing their unique spirit to the family tapestry. Every evening, as the village came alive with the soft glow of the bioluminescent plants, Chima would gather with his siblings in the courtyard. They would play games, their laughter echoing through the night, while the plants swayed gently in the cool breeze, casting flickering shadows that danced around them. The children often imagined that the plants were alive, whispering secrets of the night to one another. Chima’s favorite time of day was when he would walk to St. Barnabas Primary School, where he was taught by the wise and patient Sir Adegoke. The school was a modest building, its walls adorned with murals painted by the children, depicting their dreams and aspirations. Sir Adegoke had a way of making even the darkest nights feel bright with knowledge. He would often tell stories of the stars that once shone above, igniting a spark of curiosity in Chima and his classmates. One evening, as Chima walked home from school, he noticed a particularly vibrant patch of bioluminescent plants. Their glow was more intense than usual, pulsing like a heartbeat. Intrigued, he knelt down to examine them closely. To his astonishment, he discovered that the plants formed a pattern resembling constellations. It was as if they were trying to communicate something profound. Chima rushed home, excitement bubbling within him. “Mama! Papa! You won’t believe what I found!” he exclaimed, breathless. His siblings gathered around, their eyes wide with curiosity.
