We stopped in our tracks. We were almost at the door where Jere was holding Bob and Darren. Suddenly my courage crumbled; what if Bob was the one who had been shot? The scream had definitely been Teresa's so it had to either be Darren or Bob who had been shot.
"It’s Bob," Jack whispered.
"Do you own superpowers that I should know about?"
Jack rolled his eyes before dramatically sighing.
"If it was Darren, we wouldn't be alive. This place is wired with bombs and the trigger is on Darren's chest waiting to be set off by a gunshot."
My head whipped in the direction the girls had run to. What if Jere went nuts? What would happen if he shot Darren before the girls got out?
