THE BILLIONAIRE BEHIND ME

I struggled to walk up the flight of stairs as I made an effort to get to Mary's apartment.I had to be careful of the huge bump I was spotting, an indicator of my eight-month pregnancy.An hour ago I got a call from Mary, my best friend asking for help as her boyfriend had dumped her. I knew how much Mary loved her boyfriend and was scared of what she might do.After much effort, I finally made it to Mary's apartment but found the door open.I stepped into the apartment while pulling out her phone, ready to call the police.I did my best to not assume the worst was happening to Mary.Then I heard the sound of the giggles coming from the living room."Babe, why do we have to sneak around that snob?" Came Mary's voice."It won't be long, I have to milk her for what she is worth.Don't worry I only have you in my heart." A familiar voice replied.Hearing the voice I felt like I was struck by lightning."Ah, watching her go around with that disgusting thing in her stomach that she claims to be yours is infuriating," Mary added with a huff."Don't remind me, when I think about that witch going behind my back while acting all innocent I just want to beat her up." I heard the voice that was a bit too familiar to me speak again.I shook my head in disbelief, I wouldn't believe it.This could never happen to me, so with shaky steps I went into the living room to find Mary naked sprawled over my husband Willam who was stroking her hair lovingly."No! It's a lie." I whispered as I fell to my knees.The naked couple turned to the door and found me sitting on the floor confused.Mary scrambled to me in panic,"Naomi, it's not what you think." "Don't worry, she can't do anything," Willam said while slowly dressing up.I looked at him confused, I had never seen this side of Willam before.He is not the same person that kissed me goodbye this morning."Why?" I asked."Why what?" William asked back."Why are you acting like this?" I asked."You are not my Willam, my William is kind, thoughtful, and gentle he would never betray me.""Your Willam? Was I your Willam when you slept around behind my back?" William roared in anger."What did you say? You know that I would never do that. Who told you such a lie?" I roared back at him."Who told me? Hahahaha... The disgusting thing in your stomach told me." William spat out with venom."That is you child why would you say such a thing?" I asked in shock."My child?" William asked with a raised voice."Babe calm down, breathe!" Mary said with worry on her face while sticking to William while still naked."Sorry about that baby..." William said as he drew Mary in for a kiss.I just sat there and watched my best friend lock lips with my husband.I wish it was all a dream, then all I had to do was wake up."Get out!" William's voice echoed throughout the living room."What?" I asked not registering what he meant."I said get out, or do you want me to call the police?"Willam added."I don't care about the police!" I screamed."Babe, don't worry. I'll take care of her." Mary said and she covered herself with a robe and walked towards me."Come on Naomi, get up," Mary said as she pulled me up to my feet while I searched her face for an indication that she was just joking.That this was all a joke, "Mary, Please tell me this is just a joke." I pleaded."That's the problem with you Naomi, you only see what you want to see.William spoke enough for you to know that this is serious." Mary said."But why?" I whispered a question that I'd been repeating since I got here."Why? Because you are not carrying William's child and William has always been mine." Mary replied with an innocent face."What do you mean I'm not carrying his child?" I asked in horror.By this time I had made it to the elevator which had its under repair sign taken off."I made sure of it, that night? Your Honeymoon? I was there at the hotel.All I had to do was get William alone and then switch your room number.It helped a lot that you were drunk, I had Willam to myself while you were...." Mary said while staring at my baby bump.I looked at Mary in shock,"Why would you do this to me? You are my friend. Why would you ruin me?" I asked hysterically."You were my friend? All you had for me was pity, pity my family for being bankrupt, pity that I was never good academically.Pity that no matter what I tried to do in life I would always be second best to you.I fell for William first but you just had to go and get together with him.Now Naomi I pity you for being so blind, I pity you for being so stupid." Mary said with venom and hate, shocking me more."That's not true, you know that is not true.I was there for you, every single time I was there for you.No matter what was going on in your life I made sure that you were never alone.It was never pity, I cared for you like I would my sister." I said to Mary.But all she did was push me off the elevator that had arrived at the ground floor."Well, I have to head back. Pity or love I don't care because, in the end, I won." Mary said and closed the doors to the elevator.I stood there and watched the elevator rise as my chest ached then blood rushed to my head and all went dark. The last thing I heard was,"She just collapsed, somebody called an ambulance."
