Four: You Don’t Mess With Olivia Parker

CHAPTER FOUR Lustre’s POV “Hello, smarty pants,” A spine-chilling voice clearly addressed me in the classroom that’d just gone dead silent following my unfortunate fall. Which still f*****g hurt by the way, but my curiosity was now turned to the culprit that had orchestrated the fall in the first place… She had a wicked sneer on her face that contradicted her soft blonde curls and soft glam, but since she was the girl whose incorrect equation I’d corrected, it didn’t take me less than a second to confirm Amelia’s words about a self-proclaimed queen who didn’t take corrections lightly. “You stink of…..” She scrunched her nose up and paused for dramatic effect, but that was when I noticed that there were two oddly identical girls behind her with the same disdainful look as her while they folded their hands tightly over their chests. “Mediocrity, the kind that a human reeks of” Her eyes traveled along my entire frame with so much hatred, like she’d known me for years and we were sworn enemies. While I had a million things to say to her, I was still in shock, one that sprung from the disbelief that I was being maltreated just because I’d answered a silly equation correctly. Also, my body hurt like hell because I’d been slammed into the ground by someone with a disturbingly strong wolf. “Did no one tell you who I was before you waltzed into this class with your know-it-all attitude?” She kicked me in my side suddenly and I gasped in pain. My breathing quickened and my hands immediately flew to my sides, I looked around hoping that someone would stand up to her for being such a thoughtless bully—just like I would’ve defended anyone else—but everyone was lodged in different corners of the room, some ignoring the scene by doing random s**t and others just watching like it was completely normal. Then my eyes landed on Amelia, she was hurdled behind some other students who were seated in a circle and all she did was mouth a “sorry” with clasped hands before she slipped out of the classroom. “Something tells me that a mere human like you couldn’t get anyone to care enough about your worthless existence to tell you about me” I didn’t know a person’s voice could drip with venom until I heard hers. “I’ll do you a huge favor for which you’ll owe me another,” She waved a hand lazily toward me and her minions quickly appeared at my back. How did two bitchy looking identical puppets move so fast? “I’m THE Olivia Parker, your queen and your worst nightmare if you keep pulling foolish stunts like you just did in class” As soon as she was done speaking, both girls pulled me up to my full height in one swift calculated motion that made my head woozy. I keep forgetting that they're werewolves, powerful ones at that. “Now, I'll give you an opportunity to right your wrongs and return the favor I just did you” A vicious smile spread across her lips as I tried to make sense of her words. Wait. The f*****g favor was telling me her name and her self-proclaimed tittle? God, I was getting increasingly irritated by her audacity. “The fav—” “You speak when you're asked to, not while I'm not done talking” She was standing uncomfortably close to me now, the smile wiped off her face and replaced with an angry glare. I wasn't scared of her, but I was clearly outnumbered and defenseless so I decided to wait till she was done spitting gibberish to get my own turn to speak. Still, I needed to take a step back from her hateful presence so I created more distance between us. She seemed pleased by the fact that I’d retreated a bit, obviously because she’d assumed that she’d successfully instilled fear in me. “Kneel and beg for forgiveness and I’ll consider letting you off with a warning and your life,” She flashed me her claws, “A life so inconsequential that I could take it within seconds and no one would bat an eyelid” On hearing her speak with such unbridled audacity, my resolve dissolved into anger and I shook myself away from her minions’ grasps and covered the space I’d just created between us within seconds, making sure to look her right in her eyes. “Look here, I’m many things—human inclusive, since that fact tickles you so much,” I basked in the awe-struck look that’d taken over Olivia’s hateful glare. “But, I’m not an ass kisser that’ll drop at the feet of some self-proclaimed goddess that can't find a simple “x” in an equation a toddler could solve with their eyes closed,” The gasps that followed my statement were just as deafening as the silence before hand, but I didn't care. Then, the whispers started, all of them focused on how I’d signed by death sentence by talking back at Olivia. On the other hand, there was Olivia who was staring at me, looking as red as a ripe tomato while she fisted her hands at her sides like she was about to throw a tantrum. “Quiet! Before I ruin each and every one of your miserable lives for paying mind to a human who doesn't know how to behave when she's clearly no among her equals” She stamped her feet on the floor while her nostrils flared up angrily. As she’d instructed, everywhere went dead silent. “You seem to have everything a powerful person can get their hands on, except manners of course” I said with a tinge of amusement. Her response to what was obviously the truth was a resounding slap on my cheek that immediately left me with a banging headache. My hands flew to the affected and sore cheek and I looked around to see that everyone was either staring at me with shock or disgust, an act that made me realize that no one had ever challenged Olivia’s tyranny. Well, no one but me. Before I could find my words again, I saw Olivia nod cryptically at her minions and within seconds I was being dragged out of the classroom while sheled the way. I thrashed and kicked all the way until we got to the restrooms but they didn't pay me any attention, neither was I successful in overpowering them. “I’ll teach you on hell of a lesson you vile thing” Olivia kicked me right in the face the second her minions slammed the door behind us and I tumbled on the floor, I could even taste blood in my mouth from how intense the kick had been. “f*****g b***h!” She kicked me again and I could swear that I saw stars, maybe even another dimension. As if that was a call for more violence, her minions immediately joined in, hitting me with kicks on every single part of my body without a second’s break to breathe. I felt like my throat was closing and my entire body was pulsing with unimaginable pain, one that hadn't stopped in over 15 minutes since I’d become their punching bag. For a while, they kept at it until Olivia made an intelligible sound that caused everything to hurt. “Now listen carefully,” She pulled me off the floor and slammed my back into the mirror so hard that it shattered and a few pieces penetrated my back. “I own everything that breathes in this school, including you” She bared her fangs at me at the same time that her claws snapped free. “So, the next time you forget that, you better be willing to meet a disastrous end” The next thing I knew, she dragged my arm and used her claws to draw a faint O on my wrist. I watched in shock, the kind that made you go mute and f****d up your thoughts because it was unbelievable. “That’ll heal, but in the meantime, it's the perfect reminder of this defining moment” She pushed me to the floor like I weighed nothing. As if she’d not done enough, she spat in my face before turning on her heels and strutting out with her minions. “G–god” I shivered as tears stung my eyes, but I couldn't bear the thought of anyone walking in while I cried so I crawled on my arms and sides into the nearest bathroom stall to let it all out. My chest quivered painfully as I cried my eyes out, everything f*****g hurt but what truly tore me apart was how unapologetically evil Olivia was. Even my teeth were chattering from the cold wind that was hitting most of my bare skin after having my uniform torn from different angles. “Oh my,” Amelia suddenly barged in, “I'm so sorry, Olivia is such a mean bully. I should have warned you about her from the beginning.” “No, it's not your fault that she’s a sore loser. I'm just…” “Let's get you to the clinic first, your wounds should be cleaned up and treated.” She helped me up and to a clinic that looked anything but a school clinic, hell, it looked like a ridiculously expensive private hospital. The nurse attended to me immediately I was brought in and Amelia left to get back to classes. About two hours later when it was almost time for the last bell that would indicate the closing of school to go off, I heard an unusual noise echoing through the empty hallways. Even though I knew that it would've been wiser to stay put, I was bored out of my mind so I stood up from the bed and left the infirmary. I followed the unusual noise and as I got closer to where it was coming from I started to hear giggling and smacking sounds. Just as I was about to turn into the empty lab where it’d originated from, I began to hear heavy breathing and my curiosity peaked even more. But the moment I came face to face with the cause of the noise, I immediately regretted tracking it down. My jaw dropped on its own accord and a loud gasp left my lips, but that didn't ruin things for met just yet. No, it was when my stupid book slipped from my hand and slammed on the floor startling the people before me that I knew I was f****d. The next thing I came face to face with were angry vicious female eyes. Again, I’d dug my own grave—no surprise there.
