Chapter 18“Looking for someone in particular?” Ruth halted her third scan of the crowded restaurant and stared across the table at Samuel. “I’m sorry—what?” “Ruti, is something wrong?” he asked. “You seem distracted.” “Long day,” she lied. “Truth is, I could use a drink.” Definitely not a lie. “Coming right up.” As Samuel signaled for a waiter, Ruth resumed her quiet surveillance of the surrounding patrons.
