The closer I got to my house, the more intense my brain storming became, I had to find a good enough excuse to give my mother when she comes back from work. When I entered my house, the first thing I noticed was that some lights upstairs were on. I didn’t give too much thought to it, my mother probably forgot to switch them off on her way out. "Honey why are you home so early?" My mother's voice stopped me midway on the race to my room. Shit!  She wasn't meant to be back from work till evening. "Mum! You're back from work early?!" I said in a sweet voice. "Don't even try that with me Kim." My mother said, coming out of the kitchen fully.                                 “Young lady did you skip school again?" She asked with a frown on her face. She was  definitely going to explode when I tell her. "I wouldn't skip school for the life of me, mother." I said with the fakest British accent I could come up with. My mum looked at me with a brow raised, she definitely wasn't buying it.                                                     Even I couldn't believe myself. I've been absent from school more than I have been present this term. "Spill." She said moving towards the couch.                                                                                                     "Now". She added as she took a seat. "I.I..I got expelled." I blurted out. Mum's hand went to her nose and she gave it a hard pinch. I was definitely dead. One! Two! Thr- "Kimora Martins, if this is some joke you better stop it now." Mum said facing me squarely. "Mum I'm not joking, I really got expelled. You'll be getting a mail by the end of today." I said with my head bowed in shame...maybe.  Only for my mother's sake though because honestly, I was so happy I finally got expelled. I had been trying to do this since the beginning of the last term in junior year of high school which was last year but all what I kept getting was suspension. I guess Principal Muggins finally cracked today. "Oh my goodness, Kimora what did you do this time?" Mum said pulling frantically at her hair. Yep, she was definitely angry.  "Mum I swear I didn't do anything wrong, Principal Muggins doesn't just like me.”                                             I tried sounding as innocent as possible but from the look on my mother's face, she wasn't buying it. "Fine." I sighed and took a seat by her left. “I played a video of Principal Muggins dancing in his briefs with a decorated mop during our general assembly today." My mum's mouth was wide open which I must say isn't a healthy thing to do. Germs will get in. "Seigneur! Quel genre d'enfant m'as-tu donné?" My mum screamed out in French and said a lot of other things in French which I didn't bother trying to understand.                                                                           (Lord! What type of child did you give?”) "How and why did you do that?" Mum asked once she had calmed down. "Which answer do you want first, the 'how' or the 'why'?" I asked smiling, in an attempt to ease the tension, but from the look on my mother's face, she wasn't in the mood for jokes. "Why." I said rolling my eyes. "During our senior year assembly two weeks ago, Principal Muggins spoke to us about discovering ourselves, what drives us, our motivation. He said we should show it to the world, and I discovered that I enjoyed discovering secrets. I was driven to be a detective." I said gauging my mother's expression before going ahead.                                                                                                                "So I started going for walks in the evening for 'investigation purpose'." I said with a smirk, I turned to my mother and noticed her lips were twitching. I guess she already had an idea of what I did. "During one of my walks, I saw Principal Muggins dancing with a mop in his living room and ranting about how we students were little demons. He mentioned I and Hope's name a lot I must say." I said the last part with a solemn face. This caused Mum to chuckle lightly but I could still see the anger in her eyes. "So I thought to myself, 'That's probably Principal Muggins drive, but why hasn't he shown it to the world?' Being the good kid that I am, I took a video of him and during today's general assembly, I switched Mrs. Park's presentation with that video. The end." I bowed my head in courtesy and took a seat near my mother. She glared at me for a while before she burst into a feat of laughter, it didn't take me long before I joined in.                                                                                                                                                                             "Kimora Martins you are one crazy kid." She said in between her laughs.                                                 "Honey, what the hell were you thinking? I'm sure he won't even reconsider." She added after composing herself. "But Mum it's not my fault, he was too shy to show his drive to the world and I helped him. I deserve accolades not an expulsion." I scoffed.  "As hilarious as it is, you seriously were out of line. Why will you do that?" She said glaring at me. "I'm sorry." I said and I meant it, she didn't deserve to be dragged into my mess.  "What are we going to do now?" My mother questioned thoughtfully.                                                                                       “No school in Oakland will want to accept you, this expulsion news will definitely spread like wildfire."  "Their loss." I said trying to play cool.                                                                                                                     “Who doesn't want my amazingness?" I said pointing arrogantly at myself. My mother gave me a look that told me she wasn't finding it funny. “I hope you realize that despite how hilarious you think what you did was, it was actually wrong and uncalled for.” She said to me, her tone void of any trace of humor.                                                               "You'll have to move to another state Kim." My mother said tiredly. I felt slightly guilty for stressing her this much, but when I'm done with this mission and she finds out why, she'll be proud of me.                    “And you’ll be writing a letter of apology to your principal, which you will drop off at school before Friday.” She added and the finality in her tone, gave no room for argument. I simply nodded so as not to make things worse. We remained seated quietly for a while, each lost in her thoughts until my phone started buzzing.                I knew exactly who it was and this wasn't a call I could pick around my mother. "I love  you mum." I said kissing her cheek before running up to my room without waiting for her reply. "Hello." I said as soon as I picked up the call. "You finally got expelled from what my source just told me." His voice was as smug as usual. "Yes and it wasn't an easy task, I practically crossed the line on his privacy." I stated. "I heard kiddo. You really are crazy if I must be honest." He said while chuckling. "Your mum will be getting a call from the company's branch in L.A. asking for her immediate attention for the next eight months and a school suggestion for you. Get your things ready kid, and don't mess this up." He said with his serious tone. "What's the name of the school?" I asked curiously. "You'll find out soon." He replied, sounding tired of talking already. "Oh come on just tell me." I whined like a small kid.  "Walter High." He sighed.  He really was tired of me, not my fault though, I was trouble. "Kim please don't cause too much of trouble there and don't do anything that'll give you away. For once, act like a normal teenager." He said and cut the call. "Walter High, here I come." I said smirking at my image in the mirror. Little did I know what was coming my way.
