**Vito
Being cheated by my last lady wasn't as painful as her telling me boldly and to my face that she wasn't interested in any relationship. It slammed my chest like a blow, but I had to hold onto my composure and not make a joke of myself before her.
She was right to not want love because she had just divorced her husband and would probably think that all men out there were like the dickhead. I was once like that, seeing every other woman out there as Zora and always reminding myself that they wouldn't be different from her and would still cheat.
Not until I met Thalia.
That night, watching her drink herself to sleep, wearing that uniform, stirred something in me…something that had been asleep. Then I read the text message from her ex-husband, getting to know that a woman like her knew her worth and dumped a cheater without looking back, gave me such an impression that she was the one I had always wanted.
I liked women who knew their worth, and not ones like Zora that went to anything like a lollipop if they could offer better, either in cash or bed.
But well, I couldn't dare to exercise my possessive aura towards her, because I feared it wouldn't end well, and it was never good either.
I did so to my exes, and they ditched me like I was nothing, knowing that I don't share. It was as though they used me, dumped me when they got satisfied, while acting all lovely when I was claiming them as mine alone.
So my past had taught me something: that any woman who wanted to stay would do so eventually without being dominated over. A woman that loves you will want to be kept and would also match your energy, so I didn't want to press further or start explaining to Thalia how I was into her and would want a chance.
Better if she showed me a green light that she changed her mind, then I would grab it.
She stayed for a little time with me before Lilo came forth and grabbed her from me, so I left the party grounds back to my room. The party had never been fun to me since my last break-up; I only showed interest tonight because of her.

A new week came faster, and I was getting ready to go check the construction site as the VP pleaded with me to do it on his behalf. He would be almost out of work until his lady gives birth and becomes strong enough to be left alone.
Each time I thought of that, I just wanted to be in his shoes, have a wife and make a family. But such might never be my portion with how things were going, so I would just go ahead with my surrogacy or adoption plan.
I was changing the oil of my bike when I got smacked on the head…
“You're wasting the oil…!!” came the Prez's voice from behind me.
That was when I realised that I hadn't fixed the funnel very well before pouring in the oil.
“What is wrong with you? I noticed that you always zoned off during church. Are you okay? You could share with your brothers, and everything would get solved.” he gestured, while I was busy fixing up the funnel so I could do my thing quickly and get the f**k out for the day's work.
He came closer and squatted, “Did you even hear me, Vito?”
I nodded, “My mind is spinning…”
“Can I get it together for you?” he asked, and I glanced at him; then we both burst into laughter. “If the head Enforcer is like this, who would I look out for? Stoic is locked up there to a nagging and moody pregnant woman, so he's kinda useless to the club right now.”
I sniffed and stood up upon getting the oil done. “Soon, you will be in his shoes. I can see Lilo’s belly growing bigger in a few months.”
“You know, that could mean the world to me. And what about you? When are you grabbing the lady I saw you with last weekend night?”
Gosh! I didn't think any of them saw me, because I had left our midst that night and didn't get to see any of them until Lia was taken from me.
“She isn't interested. A divorcee.”
“Whoah! A lot of work,” he mentioned, and I nodded in agreement with him. “But, you feel this for her right?”
“You know I wouldn't sit with her if I didn't. I knew she was recently divorced, but I didn't know she had locked up her heart like I did when Zora did her thing on me,” he hissed and I slammed my palm on the seat of my bike. “I don't even know where to start, but I hope she will give me a chance.”
He nodded, his palms in his side pockets, “I would also advise you to press further. Don't sit back. You have to help her heal first.”
A lot of work, as he mentioned. But it would be worth it if she would eventually change her mind.
“Anyways, start going. You could think it through when you're settled.” he patted my shoulder, and I nodded, getting on my bike.
“Have Stoic know that I had just left…” I probed, and he nodded before fastening his steps out of my sight.
I started my bike and rode off.
In the next hour, I was done with the inspection and thought of what to do next, until I decided to go for Thalia at her workshop.
I hadn't thought of the reason to give her for my coming until I arrived and she walked up to me, but with no more smiles like the other time. “Good afternoon…”
She nodded, “What could have brought you here?”
“Ehhmm…” I moistened my lips, and then an idea snapped in. “The stuff we discussed; about you training the enforcers. I wanted to be sure you're still interested.”
But she shook her head reluctantly. “Please find someone else. Is there anything else?”
I was dumbfounded and just shook my head with no words.
She didn't waste time and began getting back to work, so I made use of the entrance once again, looking to get back to the clubhouse before my chest burst. Was it still because of that she changed her mind? If she had accepted, it could have drawn us closer.
So, how was I supposed to reach her? She didn't even waste time with me; at least, we could be friends first.
When I reached, I didn't even bother to report to the Prez and went straight into my bedroom.
