**Thalia
My hands on the bike handle were fidgeting, but I managed to ride home safely and quickly got into the house. I locked up, undressed immediately and went under the shower, hoping that it calmed my tension.
I didn't see that coming. No matter how strong and good I was at fighting, some people are better not met in this life.
It felt good recalling that I wouldn't be at work the next day, so I would stay indoors all through to get myself together. I would also get some defence tools I had used in the past when I hadn't started fighting; they would help when I happen to meet such a disastrous man ever again.
By the time I got out of the bathroom, my heart had settled a bit. I slipped into my joggers and polo shirt, sat on the sofa and cuddled myself together, looking into the space.
If Vito didn't show up, what would have been my fate? That man was up to r@ping me, and the restroom was a bit far from where the marketing was going on, so people wouldn't hear my screams no matter how loud they were. How long had he been stalking me to follow me to the restroom? What was so special about me that he wanted?
I gasped and wrapped my palms to the side of my head. ‘This is not making sense. It's so dreadful to think about.’
Now I understood how victims of r@pe feel, which caused them to go for therapy at least, even though it still doesn't work for some and they stay with the trauma all through their lives.
I was supposed to make a meal for myself, but I had no appetite or even strength for that. All I hoped was that I could sleep later and not have a nightmare about this.
The ticking of the clock was the only sound in the room. I wrapped myself together, as though fearful that someone would haul me away if time wasn't taken.
As time passed, I thought to call Lilo and request Vito's contact number. I needed to ask what he did to the man since he was getting back in there. I had already found her contact, about to dial it, when my doorbell rang.
My body froze. I tried to get to my feet, but my body couldn't get off the sofa.
The bell rang again, and this time, I hauled my body forcefully and tiptoed to the door. I checked from the peephole, and my hand fumbled quickly on the doorknob to open it.
‘Oh, my God! I have to put in the passcode,’ I thought and began pressing the numbers. As the door made a sound, he twisted the doorknob and pushed it open by himself.
I stepped back to make way for him, then a thought flashed through my mind. “How did you know my residence?” I asked him, my voice shaking.
“Lilo gave me the address. I am not stalking you.”
I nodded, not like I ever thought that he stalked me. If he told me that he found out by himself, I wouldn't ask so many questions, because we almost had a thing in the past.
He shut the door and walked towards me. “How are you feeling? I thought you needed someone to spend some time with; that's why I came.”
I looked up at him and gulped harder, “Well…as you can see, I'm very okay.”
“But your voice says otherwise. Are you scared?”
I shook my head and walked to the sofa. “I'm very fine.”
He grabbed a seat beside me too. “You know, I understand how strong and brave you are. But even the strong get shocked by things, and that could be your problem right now. It all happened suddenly, and could be your first experience, so you will get over it with time.” he shifted my hair to the side. “I saw you riding in there and came in to talk to you when you suddenly vanished from the cashier session. I asked the lady, and she mentioned that you were using the restroom, but when I didn't see you for minutes, I decided to check in.”
He really did come there for me?
I sighed out loud and turned to look at his face. “Thank you for coming in there. I don't want to imagine what would have happened if you didn't."
He took my palms into his, “It's okay; I'm always here for you.”
Why was he acting nice? I tried taking back my palm, but he held it tighter.
“I should get your jacket…”
“That's it over there, so I can take it myself,” he responded, gazing at me softly.
The tension in the room was becoming thick, and I didn't like it.
“Lia, can we talk about the last time?” he mentioned, and I raised my face to him. “About the stripper you stumbled into in the garage.”
Quickly, I shook my head. “I think you should start leaving. Thank you for everything; I'm so grateful.” I said, turning away and forcefully snatching my hand away from his.
When he didn't move for seconds, I turned around to catch him gazing at me. The sudden locking of eyes made my heart leap to my throat, and I nibbled my bottom lip.
“It's better we talk it out, please. Lilo must have shown you the footage; I don't have any business with her. The Prez found her and warned her never to cross boundaries when she comes to the club, or she would be stopped from coming. She wasn't supposed to be there, and I didn't even see her.”
I already knew. Lilo explained everything to me and didn't press on, so why was he bringing it up? Didn't Lilo at least send back my response to him?
“Babe…” he said, and his arms went over my shoulder.
My lips dropped open in shock, and I slowly adjusted my butt on the sofa. “Did you call me that?”
“Did you hear everything that I just said? I can't stand you being mad at me this way. If I had known that you misunderstood me, I would have cleared the air immediately.”
I shook my head, “Just start leaving. I'm never going to be ready for all these.”
But he wasn't letting go.
“Vito, did you hear me? I need to rest, and…
I didn't realise what was happening, but I felt his warm lips on mine, causing my adrenaline to shoot up, and my body went stiff.
