**Vito She was such a lovely woman. Her smiles melted my heart and amended the broken pieces that had been untouched since my last breakup. I couldn't imagine the hell she must have passed through while in marriage to be hurt by that asshole called Dante. Why do good people always get hurt? I hadn't spent a lot of time with her, but not even Lilo had said ill of her, and the little time spent together made me know who exactly she was. Cooking with her wasn't just fun but a memory I wouldn't easily get rid of. She smiled all through, and they really reached her eyes. Her vegetable salad had that taste I had longed to savour, so I couldn't help but ask her, “Is it your mum who taught you how to cook? Or did you learn it elsewhere?” She chuckled, “My mum, of course. She's sick now.” “I'm sorry for that.” I apologised and lowered my head. Why does her meal taste like that of my mum? Could two different people have the same cooking skill? I enjoyed the meal with her, and so I left late at night. I didn't even bother to join the rest and went straight to my room when I got back to the clubhouse. There was nothing else I wanted to do at that moment other than having my ink on paper. For the first time, I was drawing with smiles all over my face, not because I was trying to get over depression, frustration, anger, or out of money. I genuinely painted another version of her and hung it in my room as well…so I had two of her drawings. “What a wonderful experience I had with you, Lia. I hope we get along so well.” I muttered to myself, staring at her painting. I hoped that someday, she would get into my bedroom and see what I drew. She would have smiles all over her face, and I would admire her beauty so much. *** I fantasised so much about the next weekend, and it finally came after so much time. I had gotten a message from Lia that she was taking off from home, so I waited outside the clubhouse to take her in myself. Since the first day she came and encountered her ex-husband and ex-friend, I hadn't seen them around the party again. That night, I had told the prospects about them and how they shouldn't be let in after that night, because I didn't want to cause a fuss, and Lia found out what I did without her knowledge. But since then, they had always reported not seeing them again, and I bet they would be using another club party henceforth. And for both to stop coming at once meant that they still had a thing after Lia divorced the asshole. I checked the time almost every minute, counting on the people walking past me and patiently waiting for Lia. A lady walked over to me soon, wearing an irritating smile. I would have flung her away if that wasn't so harsh, because I saw her as a disaster. What if Lia saw her with me and started overthinking? “Just don't come closer or I'll have the prospects shove you away,” I warned, and she froze at that spot. As I shifted to the side and looked around, my eyes landed on Lia, whose eyes were on me. I couldn't breathe for sometime, just wished the ground would have me in. How long had she watched me? But she waved her hand, smiling, and then got down from her bike. Seeing those smiles that covered her face, I hurried to her and took her hand. “I was scared you wouldn't come,” I said, trying to get rid of the nervousness that almost struck me down seconds ago. She rolled her eyes, “Do we get in?” “Sure!” I offered my hand, and she accepted it without hesitating. Seeing this side of her was the best thing to ever happen to me. Now, if I could hold her that easily, kiss her and even embrace her, wasn't it a sign that I should express my feelings to her? I took her to the session where the brothers were all gathered with their ladies, ol’ ladies and fuckmates. Stoic and his heavy wife were present tonight, and I bet her wife was in a good mood. “Sit with me here.” I offered Lia a seat before grabbing mine. Our presence caused a thick silence in the midst, and all eyes were on us. Loic, the Prez, cleared his throat and crossed his right leg over the other. He glanced at his twin brother, the VP, Stoic, and both nodded. Why wouldn't I understand what was going on? They were expecting something, and I was seriously experiencing a palpitating heart and didn't know how to start about it. Soon, Lia waved her hand at Lilo, who had just shown up with the chefs. “Girl, oh my God!” Lilo rushed over to her, and they embraced each other. “You really came. I like that.” Lia glanced at me and winked, “What are you doing?” “Getting the dinner ready. Now that you're here, you'll eat with us.” “But… Lilo pressed her index finger on Lia's lips, and they both chuckled. “Look, this is Gracie, the VP’s wife.” Lilo introduced, and Gracie, who was chewing what I didn't even see, waved her hand at Lia, smiling sheepishly. “I'm Gracie, and you?” the pregnant lady asked. Lia flung her hair to the side, “Thalia! It's nice meeting you.” “That's the name I want to give my baby. I went for a scan, and she's a girl.” Gracie confessed, but looked so happy. “So we are going to be close friends, so my baby will get to know you when she grows up.” Lia chuckled, “I hope so. It all depends on this man there.” She pointed at me, and the brothers all laughed. “I see! He wouldn't do anything stupid, or you would report him to me, and I'll handle him myself.” “You're gone, bro,” Stoic muttered to me, and I could sense what he meant. Preggys could be something else, more like a half-mortal. After their little chat, Lia sat back beside me, and I slowly took her hand into mine. It felt so surreal having to hold a lady once again, and then it was her. When dinner was served and everyone seemed to be composed and concentrated, Loic winked at me, a go-ahead with my plan, and I cleared my throat. But in that same moment, I had a second thought about it. Was it okay introducing her without telling her my feelings? Wouldn't she get pissed at me again? I glanced at her, and she smiled at me. Gosh! I didn't want to lose those smiles, so it was better I waited and expressed my feelings first.
