Armed with a large bucket of popcorn, a box of Milk Duds, and two twenty-ounce tubs of Pepsi, Jace and Germain ducked into a dark, nearly empty theater at the end of the carpeted corridor. Trailers for other movies were still playing as they entered the air-conditioned theater.
Climbing the stadium seats to the back row, Germain shined the light of his smartphone in front of him, helping him navigate in the semi-darkness, past other couples whispering to each other in the dark. The smell of warm, buttery popcorn hung in the air.
