Chapter 7 The gigantic bonfire that marked the end of the Lightning Gap Harvest Festival and the true turning of the seasons was spectacular to behold. Donations from Sophie and her family along with other people who came from all around created a warm, fragrant blaze more than ten feet high, with swirling, dancing sparks soaring at least twice as far above. Mugs of hot apple cider for the kids and spiked versions for some of the adults made the rounds. What had to be the entire town and a few hundred more stood or sat in the circle, and the fire itself was louder than the low whispers of conversation.
