Chapter 4 Katie almost forget where she was and why. Several sips of excellent whiskey had banished the chill and the nervous shakes. She felt completely relaxed, in spite of the surroundings. Golly now slept on a pile of towels on the break room floor, curled up and snoring softly between their feet. Diane was wonderful company. She kept Katie laughing with stories about animals and owners, about her Tennessee childhood, and about all the trouble she’d gotten in as a kid with her rambunctious brothers. She was also awfully easy on the eyes. She had the cutest little crooked mouth that showed dainty little teeth every time she smiled.
