CHAPTER SEVENTY NINE

1765 Words

ISABEL'S POV. I followed Leo through the forest path leading to the pack hospital. The sound of our steps on the dirt trail was the only thing breaking the heavy silence between us. He hadn’t said much after asking me to come with him, and though I wanted to press him for answers, something about his demeanor kept me quiet. He wasn’t angry—at least, not in the usual way—but there was a heaviness about him that made me nervous. His shoulders hasn't relaxed since we stepped out of his office, and his eyes were distant, like he'd wandered off in thoughts. “Where are we going?” I finally asked, my voice barely above a whisper. “You’ll see,” Leo replied, his tone calm but still distant. “It’s not far now. I need to show you something.” That did little to ease the knot forming in my stomach.
