I stayed frozen in Leo’s lap, my heart racing as Marcus’s words echoed in my mind.
Leo’s grip on me didn’t loosen, he held me tight against him as the words sank in. My heart pounded in both fear and confusion and my throat suddenly felt dry. I found myself swallowing over and over again as I tried to get rid of the invisible lump in my throat.
Alpha Dimitri. I had heard his name whispered in fear before, a cruel and ruthless alpha known for his thirst for power. From what I know, Alpha Dimitri was the same man who had ordered the attack on my old pack years ago, wiping out the entire flaming moon. No one knew his reasons for doing what he did other than maybe he was just on a quest to make an even bigger name for himself. And now he wanted me. Why. Why would he want me? D
