CHAPTER NINE: Why The Sudden Good Samaritan, Treyson?
People tend to be bad, others can be good. But who says there can't be anyone who can both? Each of us has their own bad side. There's no way you're human if you can't be bad occasionally. Just that, others tend to set aside their soft side and loves to unleash the grizzly bear they are.
As I looked at the guy, who sure suffers so hard right now, while clutching his tummy from laughing, the growing loathe I have for him gradually lessened. For some point, I was really wrong to have judged him that fast base on purely biased information. I wasn't told about how genuinely helpful he can be, though he shows it in an arrogant manner. Still, the thought of his concerned voice and when his face softened, I must say, this guy can be quite adorable.
The adorable crispiness of his laughter that's echoing inside the room is maddening. I really, really love the sound of his laughter. It's so manly and at the same time has a slight hint of a cute little boy's giggle.
"Hey, what's going on? What am I missing in here?" Errine interrupted. She's exchanging glances from me and this hyena-like guy who can't stop laughing.
"T-That... Haha... You fell for it... Hahaha... LBM!" and then burst into a laughter again. He's having a hard time to speak straight.
I took a pillow and threw it at him. But easy as saying good morning, he dodged it. He has some good reflexes. Well, he's fighter, alright. So having good reflexes is just normal for him, in all those riots and rumble he's engaged into.
"Heaven, explain please?" Errine said looking so clueless as to what's happening. And I must tell you, the look on her face right now is priceless.
Kohell began snorting again and so I eyed him. Shooting dark glares at him really doesn't work usually, but right now, it's like we're in a whole lot of different world, because when I eyed him, he stopped laughing. Or more like, he's trying not to snort again, by pressing those red adorable lips together.
"Tell me!" Errine said impatiently. She's scrunching her nose and she looks really impatient.
"Go on, Blondie. Tell her how you felt having L--"
"Oh my God! I don't have freakin' LBM!" I said half yelling.
"Then what happened to you? I heard you ditched classes this morning and the afternoon session..." she moved closer and whispered, "And what is Hell doing here, might I ask, young lady?"
"Look, I'll tell you everything later. Okay? I just wanna get outta here. God! This place's so..." I shrugged my shoulders in a sign of disgust. I am not really a fan of infirmaries and hospitals. Sickening place.
"l already talked to Alice. She said you can go. I've cleared all the papers for you." Kohell butted in.
"Okay, cool. Thanks." I said and gave him a small smile before hopping out of the infirmary bed. Errine handed me my bag and we're good to go.
I noticed the opened window and my brows automatically furrowed.
"Kohell, did you left the window open earlier before leaving?" I asked. It really bugs me that the window was open.
He took a quick glance at the window and looked my direction.
"Umm... yeah. Yeah, I did. Was kinda hoping you might want a little fresh air. So, yeah I opened it." He rambled. That was not convincing at all. He lost his entire cool when he answered my question so it troubles me a lot knowing that he almost staggered.
"Okay. Yeah, whatever." I deadpanned.
I took one final glance at the window before walking out of the infirmary.
While walking along the red-bricked pavement, Errine began bombarding me with questions I dare not answer. Why? Because Kohell's here and we ought to keep whatever's happening to me, to ourselves. We have to exclude Kohell and other possible 'outsider' from this. Like what I told Errine, I can't let someone be hurt for my sake. And I'd like to keep the situation that way.
"Shall I take you two to your dormhouse?" Kohell's voice erupted all of the sudden which made me look his direction with raised brow.
"Why the sudden Good Samaritan, Treyson? That doesn't work on you, you know? You totally ruined the meaning of it." I said harshly.
He chuckled before saying something.
"Oh how lovely of you to label me that name, Blondie. However, that wasn't what I really wanted." He said. His cool's back, folks! And the way he said those words can really be the cause of someone's heart attack, particularly girls. I mean, how can those simple words be so pleasant to hear? I shouldn't be thinking of things like this.
"Then what do you want? What's your intention?" I asked.
"Hmm... Let me think." He started rubbing his chin with his fingers as if thinking of something. "Well, today I was of extreme help to you. So I guess it's fitting that you treat me for dinner." He said smugly.
"Is that it? Fine. Let's head to Central-" he stopped me from speaking by pressing his index finger on my lips. And that my friends, sent out bolts of electricity throughout my body. Jeez!
"Nah-ah, Blondie. I want you to cook for me." He said and finished it off with a smirk.
"Seriously? You've gotta be kidding me!"
I suck.
At cooking.
***
"Well, what are you waiting for?"
I saw him just standing outside the dormhouse. Errine and I are inside the house, and yet he's still glued to the spot just at the porch of our dormhouse.
"If you're having second thoughts about my cooking, don't worry, I won't poison you just yet. Come on in, you twit." I said harshly then opened the door widely.
And as if that's the cue he's just been waiting for, he stepped right in and heaved a deep breath. I just shook my head.
"Feel free to sit on the couch. Just don't loiter around and don't you ever dare go upstairs. Got it?" I warned him.
"Got it, bossy." He said and raised his thumbs.
"And please, don't call me names." I said irritatingly.
"You know, you actually look kinda cute when you're like that." He said as he sat on the couch.
"Like what?" I asked with brawling brows.
"Gettin' grumpy. Actually, you look kinda hot." He said. He extended his hands on the backrest of the couch and crossed his legs before givin' me a knee-wobbling wink.
I immediately felt the surge of heat through my entire body, then finally settling on my cheeks. The feverish feeling I have right now dominates me and is currently affecting me vocal cord and my sense of coordination.
"Blondie..." he called out.
"Huh?"
"You're blushing." He again smirked.
"Y-You- I-I have to cook. D-Don't go upstairs." I stammered.
"Why? Afraid I might sneak in your underwear drawer?"
If I can get any redder than I could be, it would be now!
"Pervert!" I mustered all the courage and strength I have left and stomped out of the receiving area of the house then headed to the Kitchen.
I opened the refrigerator, took a bottle of water and gulped it in one go.
"Hey, are you okay? You look like a walking tomato." Errine said. She's cutting off cucumber for the salad. She's decided to help me with this cooking thing since I really suck at this.
"Nevermind. So what can I do?" I asked while approaching the kitchen counter.
"Here, wash this." She handed me the lettuce. I took it and headed to the faucet.
"So, can you answer my questions now?" Errine asked.
"Is Kohell out of earshot?" I asked back.
"I guess so." She answered.
"Okay, good. During my free time-"
"Are you girls all right in here? Do you want any help?" Kohell suddenly popped out of nowhere. He's like a mushroom, a gorgeous-looking mushroom at that.
Errine and I exchanged looks before I managed to answer the question.
"We're good. Errine and I--"
"Awwww!" Errine yelled.
"Errine, what happ-- Oh my God! It's bleeding! Weren't you watching where you slice that knife?"
"It hurts." Errine said with her voice shaky.
"K-Kohell, can you get the first aid kit at the bathroom to your left? It's in the medicine cabinet." I panicked. Blood's pouring out of Errine's finger. She might have cut it too deep.
I washed her finger in the running water. I took a clean towel and pressed it on Errine's finger.
I noticed Kohell's still standing right there. He has this aura that I can't explain. His eyes' even darker than the usual. The muscles on his shoulder are tensed.
"Heavs, it won't stop bleeding!" Errine exclaimed.
"Kohell, the kit!" I shouted.
He snapped and in a swift motion, almost in a blink of an eye, he disappeared. And reappeared with the kit in his hand.
"Here. I'm just gonna wait on the receiving room." he said roughly before walking out of the kitchen.
I took the kit and took care of Errine's wound.
After I'm done with her, she suggested that she should just do light chores for now. Her fingers sting, she said. Looks like she can't be of help as of now.
And so I think we just have to go buy pizza and coke. Blessing in disguise!
***
"That was unfair." Kohell said while I'm walking him towards the gate.
"What?" I asked.
"The dinner. I said I want you to cook for me. But in the end, we settled for take outs. I hate fast food chain foods." he commented.
"Well, we can't do otherwise. Errine's hurt. I can't cook. And you're a jerk." I chirped.
"I'm a what?" he exclaimed.
"Don't make me repeat myself. It'll only make you look jerk-ier." I snorted.
"Oh yeah? I like you." he suddenly said.
"You what?" Did I hear it right? I mean, it's all clear but... Was there something in the food? This conversation's just awkward.
"Don't make me repeat myself, Blondie. It'll just make me like you more." he said in the most sexy voice I've ever heard! Sh*t hormones! Stop reacting! God!
"I-It's getting late. I-I probably should get inside the house." I said without looking at him and spun. I started walking towarda the house when I heard a swish of wind.
I turned to face Kohell, but he's nowhere to be found. Jeez, that guy!
I started walking again when I noticed a piece of paper on the front porch.
I took it. There's something written on it. I opened it to see those four words on a red ink.
'STAY AWAY FROM HIM!'
