Ryan's pov

I followed the trail I saw, and finally I caught up to him, but he wasn't alone “hey Ryan right, wheres Amyra?" He asked me “you know my name but I don't know yours" I replied complete bouncing his question, “im jack, and this is my pack of friends" he said pointing to the group of people around him, as they all chuckled, on if Ryan knew that Jack wasn't talking in metaphors at the moment “Ryan tell you what how would you like to be strong?" He asked as he put his arm around my neck, I just stared at him speechless.......

“Just think about it joining a brotherhood who knows your worth, people who wouldn't look down on you" he said and I must admit it sounded really tempting, “i have gotta go" I replied trying to get away from them, “come on we'll walk you home" jack offered, I obliged reluctantly.

while we walked i took in a really detailed look of every one of them, they were all shirtless except for jack who just wore a red singlet. They all had a round tattoo on each of their arm, it was wierd, but I just rolled with it, most of them all had long hair, except jack his hair was short, and dark.

Amyra's pov

Since Ryan left me when we were on our way back from school I felt a little uneasy because I had a very strong hunch on where he was going to be. I finally spotted him with a group of shirtless guys, I could just tell that there was something off about those guys.

I went outside and hugged him “im glad you are safe" I said still hugging him, every other person that came with him was retreating in the forest, but the one who rescued us this morning kept a lingering look at us, “Ryan I'm not so sure hanging out with these guys is a good idea” I said again “Amyra there's no need to worry about me okay, you'll get wrinkles" he said playing with my cheeks.

Authors pov

Back in the Waikiki clan, near the river, the seer a short stout man, black in complexion, has a long dark hair that framed his square jawline, he had no shirt on, but typically of most seers he had a woven sash like material around his neck.

He was pacing around restlessly for some reason, he chants “goddess of the moon I feel a very great change approaching, please reveal to me what is about to be!" He exclaimed as the calmness of the river seized, it rocked more and more ferociously, then a picture appeared on it, he could see the chiefs son, about to tear down another individual, he stares at this image for a while trying to decipher it's meaning, and finally he comes to a conclusion that, the other individual is the devourer and the chiefs son is the one going to take him down.

“Praised be the goddess of the moon!" He exclaimed in thanks for sending them Jack.

Ryan's pov

Amyra and i were both at home, she had just finished helping me with my homework, now we just sat down close to each other just staring at the ceiling or in my case I was staring at the wall “im bored" Amyra protested, I felt bored to but I didn't want to go anywhere.

“its pretty outside, let's just go for a walk," she said again “i'd prefer we stay here" I said again “im out I'm going to enjoy the view all alone since I don't have anyone to accompany me, I'll be out there all by myself" she said dragging her words guilt tripping me as she stood up swaying her hips in a seductious manner, “okay okay fine you win, I'm coming with you"

We were both outside, the time should be around 6 O'clock in the evening the sky was slightly pink in colour, slightly red and slightly orange “arent you glad you didn't miss this" she said to me as she grabbed onto my arm and the wind blew calmly, “okay fine you were right staying indoors under a weather like this was not wise. I admitted as she just smiled “takes a strong man to admit when he is defeated" she said still in a mocking tone “hey I didn't lose anything!" I said as I trying to defend myself.

“yeah I believe you" she said in a way that completely conveys sarcasm in her voice, I chased her, and she ran away from me, it was a pretty big forest and a lot of places to hide so I wasn't going to give her that chance if I was to catch her, she was pretty agile, but I finally caught her from behind but the momentum we had gained while running was too much, and we didn't regain our composure in time so we ended up falling on the ground laughing.

She was on top of me as we just stayed there looking at ourselves I felt this uneasy feeling inside my gut, it felt like knots were being tied tightly in my belly, our heads were coming closer, when a brisk sound startled us, it sounded like something had passed by really quickly.

She stood up from me immediately as we were now on the alert, “what was that?" She asked as she stood up from me “i don't know but we should get out of here" I said we were retreating back to our house, but the husk sound was heared again, something was definitely watching us.

A loud howl sound was heared “run!" I commanded as we both took to our heels, running for our lives, my heart was thumbing really loudly, the hair at the back of my neck stood erect, I could visibly feel fhe effects of adrenaline in my blood stream, but out of all this I was more worried for Amyra I can't let her get hurt.

We were cornered by a huge dog looking kind of animal “wolf" Amyra muttered under her breath, but it was loud enough for me to hear. We stepped back slowly, but there were more and more of them, totalling 7 in number, they lunged towards the both of us and once again I was powerless to protect Amyra, one of them lunged towards me I froze and another one hit Amyra and she got slightly injured, another charged towards us again but was twarted away by “jack!" I said in slight relief, but completely hated myself because he had saved us this past two times while I just saw and there frozen in fear.

He seamlessly took down some of them and then the rest of the wolves retreated “you both can't just seem to stay away from trouble can you?" He smirked while asking that “hiw did you know we were in trouble" Amyra asked not to keen on his presense here with us. “i was in the neighborhood" he replied nonchalantly, as he just kept on walking “later, and in the meantime stay out of trouble, there are other wild animals in this forest you know" he said as he walked away.

I walked Amyra back home but I barely said a word, I was stewing in my hatred for my weakness, “Ryan" she called my name softly, “it wasn't your fault there is no need to beat yourself up" she said as I just finished bandaging her wound up “i know it isn't my fault, what I hate is not being able to protect you when the time comes" I said throwing away what I had in my hand “let me just be alone for now alright" I said as I walked away.

Jack's pov

“are you sure jack that this plan is going to work, making us attack them like that?" Leroi asked me “i know the kind of person that Ryan is he hates weakness and would do whatever it takes to protect my Amyra so, I showed him power, and he is going to come to me to seek it out, but the quest for power isn't an easy one especially when you aren't born with it.......
