LAST STRAW

426 Words
Eric screamed for his mom who was being attacked by werewolves. Eventually, he broke free from Melissa's grasp and went straight for the wolves who were about to deliver the final blow to his weak mother who had just birthed Brian. Dripping from his fingers was blood from the last werewolf's heart he had ripped out. His eyes glowed blue, his stance was heroic, Eric had just killed four werewolves on his own. Blessed with innate talent and referred to as the child of the prophecy, Eric awakened his werewolf abilities when he turned 5; a few months earlier before the war. Although his werewolf status was hidden from the public, Eric would eventually become a pawn used by Melissa and her father. After Eric turned five, he was involved in a horrible incident that resulted in him taking the life of his best friend, Mia; a werebear. The death of Mia increased tension between the supernaturals and the clouds were getting darker. The era of peace seemed to be nearing its end. The bears accused the wolves of murder subjecting them to a test to find out the killer. The wolves were made to come in contact with wolfsbane in order to reflect the colour of their eyes. Eye colours are a way of obtaining information about wolves. A red eye colour means Alpha, Betas have a yellow/golden eye colour. Blue eyes are the rarest amongst wolves. It appears when an innocent or pure life is taken. Although this does not pertain to bears since they all have the same eye colour, they lose their ability to shapeshift. Gripped with fear, Eric's parent knew the punishment for such a crime was death at worst and exile at best. If the public found out about this, Leo's authority could be compromised. Peace and stability were on a three-legged table about to lose another leg and the great era would most certainly end. “The truth must be protected at all cost" Lord Evans whispered to his daughter as the revealing test grew closer. Even though she was not the culprit, there were looks of suspicions towards her. The community she grew in had become unbearable for her. Ever since the death of her sister, her world had gone from sunshine to the Hades. Brimming with anger, her eyes glowed blue. She had always wanted to leave. After all, she was always treated like an outcast. She could not care less about her father's evil plan, she just wanted out. She was done with them all. Melissa took the fall for Eric's sins
