Chapter 2- 5 Years Later

1367 Words
Ava POV I left my homeland 5 years ago after my jerk of a mate rejected me on my 18th birthday, though I must admit that I am glad he did as it meant that I did not have a reason to stay anymore. For the first two years I just travelled the world and slowly built up a business empire, which I kept hidden from the werewolf world. My father died and left everything to me when I was 7, I was actually really rich but could never access my money until I came of age. As soon as I was 18, all of the money and the businesses that my father had created were transferred to me. I had just found that out from a letter I had received that morning when I was called to the alpha office and Matt rejected me. My wolf, Jade, told me to accept his rejection. I felt nothing when the bond broke, not even when Matt fell to the floor in agony. I quickly left as Regina ran to Matt, tears flowing from her eyes which had seconds ago help laughter. I quickly packed my stuff and left. In the last two years I turned my parents businesses into empires, I am currently a billionaire and my empire is expanding into the publishing industry. I already own a chain of successful hotels, restaurants and apartments so expanding again is rather exciting. Two years after I left I decided to discover my past, the only thing that I had to go on was my ring which I took to the werewolf council and met with councilor Peter. Peter was immensely helpful, explaining to me that the ring belonged to the Moonlight pack and was the alpha ring that could only be worn by the alpha. I started my search in their registered land which was in Norfolk. I moved to Norfolk in the hopes of finding the pack and kept hunting but I just couldn’t find them no matter how hard I searched. But I also started to create a life there, I got a job and a home and a social life. My research carried on and four years after I left my homeland I found the answers that I seeked. I discovered that my ring really did hold the key to all of my memories and information, my sneaky father always spoke cryptically and I remember him telling me to protect the ring at all costs. I was shocked to learn that my father was the infamous Alpha Tom of the Moonlight pack and even more surprised to learn that the pack survived and was still functioning, but what got me the most was I knew where the pack was and where to find them. It took me another three years to find out the full truth and get all of my memories back. During the last three years I settled down in Norfolk where I have made a few friends and met my boyfriend Jake. Jake was deeply depressed when I first met him but he quickly came out his shell from my constant nagging of taking life as it comes and dragging him to every event I could find on weekends. We quickly became close friends until last year when Jake asked me out on Christmas day, the best gift I could have asked for. It turns out that we both had fallen for each other and wanted to take our friendship to the next level. My 23rd Birthday I am currently pacing around my living room waiting for Jake to knock on the door. Today is my 23rd birthday, I have spent the day with my girlfriends where we went to the mall and brought some nice outfits, we then went to the spa. They helped me to choose my outfit and got me ready for my dinner with Jake tonight. They kept smirking at me all day so I know something is up but they keep claiming ignorance whenever I ask them. Finally, the doorbell goes and I answer the door, I am greeted with a huge bunch of roses so big that I cannot see who is holding them. I take them from the person and see Jake hiding behind them with a huge grin on his face. Jake comes with me as I go into the kitchen to put the roses in some water so that they don’t die. Jake then takes my hand and guides me outside to his car. Once we are seated, he drives us to the restaurant. We drive for a while until we pull up to a restaurant that has a pier going out onto a lake. It looks so stunning as the pier is all lit up. Jake takes my hand and escorts me into the restaurant where we are met by the waiter who smiles and then takes us out to the pier and sits us at our table. The table is lavishly garnished with flowers, bunting and a center piece that reads ‘happy birthday Ava’ in golden cursive writing. We have a wonderful dinner and are waiting for the dessert when all of a sudden, the band stops playing and Jake stands up and pulls me into the center of the pier. I feel a bit uneasy as everyone’s eyes are on me and Jake, but I trust him. Jake kneels in front of me, holding up a ring box with a beautiful gold ring holding a sapphire and emerald in the middle in the shape of a love heart, “I know I am not your mate and I cannot replace him, and I never wish to. I myself got rejected years ago and I fell into a deep depression, but then I met you and it was like my while life was kick started again. I quickly fell in love with your style, your smile, your kind heart and you as a whole. Ava would you do me the biggest honor and become my wife?” At this point I am full on ugly crying, feeling so loved by this man in front of me. I quickly nod my head, jumping up and pulling him in for a hug. “ Yes you duffus, of course I will.” The whole restaurant erupts in cheers and music starts to play. My friends and Jakes parents all appear out of nowhere and congratulate us. A few Weeks Later Jake and I have spoken at great lengths about deciding what to do regarding my past. At first I found it really difficult because I felt that I had been lied to and lived a fake existence but then Jake helped me to see that actually I was protected and it led me to the greatest gift- him. At first I fought against my past and tried to just ignore it, but it got harder and harder as I learned more about it. But I slowly started to see why the decisions had been made and how the events could not have been avoided, I then began to understand which then led me to admit that I am who I am because of my past, and this made me smile. My father had made the best decision he could in a bad situation and they saved so many lives that I was nothing but proud of him. I then made the decision that would help to bring closure to my past but also hugely impact my future. I sat Jake down and explained everything, he agreed with my decision and is even coming with me. I take a deep breath and look at what has been my home for the last 3 and a half years, taking in all of the memories and happy times. I grab my suitcase and head out to my car. I close the door and unlock my car, allowing Jake to put his suitcase into the boot and get into the passenger side. Jake gives me a smile and nods his head, I start the car and head off to where it all began. I head to my homeland.
