CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE MINA EXHALED SHARPLY through her nose, trying to dislodge the scent of the hospital, and glanced at her phone. Still no answer from Cam. She'd tried calling and texting so much she felt like a stalker, but her messages went unanswered. She looked up at the building opposite. From here, she could see that there were no lights on in their apartment. Of course, there were lots of things Cam could be doing in there that didn't need light. Bypassing the perennially broken elevator, she took the stairs two at a time. When she reached the apartment, she pressed her palms to the door and closed her eyes. No heartbeat, no breathing. No Cam. Mina let her breath out and unlocked the door. She'd been hoping Cam would be home and she wouldn't need to figure out what to do next. Sh
