IN A DARK CORNER BETWEEN one dimly lit exhibition hall and the next, Mina paused, pressing herself back against the wall. She closed her eyes, shutting out the crowds. Despite being near closing time, the museum was still full of people pressing to see the green and gold grave goods of the travelling Mesoamerican exhibit before they were moved to the next museum in the tour. Her ears twitched as she tried to tease out the heartbeats and the voices, searching the chorus for the sound of Cam. But there were too many people, all jumbled together. And she was thirsty again.
