CHAPTER 5The sun was just above the western hills and Kyla still waited for Wyman. She wondered if the monk had called her bluff. Perhaps her friend had been attacked once he was inside. All she knew was that once the sun went behind the hill she would act. Already a tentative plan had been drawn up with Cassandra, Sastra and Esme.
She held her breath in anticipation when she saw the door slowly open and blew out in relief when Wyman walked out and waved her back across the bridge.
"It seems okay. I will wave with my left hand if I see problems and my right if there are none. If I go inside and don't return within the hour, come and get us. Understand!" she said to Cassandra.
