CHAPTER 3Lady Carressa Woods, now known simply as 639 sighed as she jerked awake. The leather strap around her neck had chaffed the skin and she had not been able to wash or do her hair since the Saxons had arrived at their property two leagues north of Glouvia Castle.
Her husband and men on the property had been killed without mercy and the five women in the manor house were given a choice, they could declare loyalty to the Saxon chieftain or join the men in the after-world.
