“Arrêtez!” The shout came from the far end of the room, loud and unexpected. “Let me through. Stop him!”
I froze and a great fear seeped into my heart. I stood up, along with the rest of my table, and saw the Henri from this timeline running to the front of the room. “There is an imposter. Guard the emperor!”
Renée shot me a glance of concern and I rushed from the table toward Henri. Jeremiah stayed by Phoebe to protect her. I glanced back at Tenskwatawa and saw that he had pulled the knife from his pocket and lunged forward at the emperor.
“Non!” The command burned in my brain and felt pulled out of time. The guests began to scream and run from the scene. The emperor avoided Tenskwatawa’s attack by pulling him forward and knocking him off balance.
