Chapter Two

"I woke up with a cracking headache. I could smell fresh bed sheets and antiseptic, so I guess I am in a hospital.
A lady dressed in white came up to me and placed her palm on my head, then pointed a flash into my eye.
"How are you? You were tranquilized by someone yesterday," she said.
Suddenly, I had a flashback from yesterday. I remembered the splitting pain in my shoulder.
"I'm happy to see you awake. I hope you are feeling better?" she asked.
"I have pain in my shoulder, a pulsating headache, and I'm hungry," I replied.
"You will be given food now and a pain relief drug. You will be fine," the lady told me.
After eating, two guys entered the ward. I remembered one of the guys from yesterday. You could sense the aura in the room. Everyone in the room bowed to them as they entered.
"How are you? I am Alexander, the Alpha of Darkhide pack, and this is Kylian, the Beta. You must remember him from your encounter yesterday."
"Yes, I can remember him," I replied, bowing instinctively. I couldn't resist due to their towering aura.
"The doctor said you are still having pains, but we will come back to question you later," Alexander said.
"Can you still remember my face? I rescued you yesterday," Kylian asked smiling.
"Yeah, yes I can recall your face," I said, blushing.
The following day:
After spending the previous day in the clinic, I am now staying in the Alpha's house.
I don't think his sister and his mum love me because they have been cold towards me, especially the mum who looks at me with disgust. I was even asked to do some household chores, but I found it easy because I have been used to it in the Moonland pack. But at least I am not subjected to insults like 'weak,' 'wolfless,' and other insults.
Later that day, I heard Alex's mom and his sister Julian talking in the kitchen.
"Your brother refuses to find a mate, but he can bring an unknown girl from nowhere to the house. I am sure that she is a rogue," Adriana said.
"Mum, be a little patient with Alex. He became the Alpha at a young age. He is just 23 years old. Mum, there is still time on his side," Julian said.
"What do you mean age is still on his side? He is the Alpha; he should have a mate as an Alpha. He is the only Alpha without a mate in the history of this pack," Adriana said.
I entered the kitchen to ask if I could get a little food.
"Look, you can't just come into our kitchen to demand food like you bought the food. We are just hosting you because Alex said we should. Don't just move around the house and eavesdrop on people's conversations like you are a member of the family," Adriana said.
"I am very sorry; I was not eavesdropping. I am just hungry because of the energy I used to work around the house," I said as I took the food Julian served for me.
As I got into the living room, Alex and Kylian entered.
"Sorry I couldn't check on you later today; we have been very busy," Kylian said.
I could feel butterflies in my stomach as he spoke to me. I was already dreaming of his lips on mine as he spoke to me.
"We need to know why you were at our border and which pack you belong to?" Alex asked, stopping my daydreaming.
"I explained why I was at the Darkhide border, trying hard to stop tears from welling in my eyes.
"I am sorry for what you have been through. You are welcome to stay in our pack as long as you want. I am sorry for what you have been through," Kylian said.
"Let's grab something to eat, Kylian. You can sleep in my room tonight, Zina," Alex said as he stood up.
"Why not let her come sleep at my place? I have a spare room available for her," Kylian said happily.
"Shut up, bro. She stays here with my sister and mum who will keep her company," Alex said, dragging Kylian away.
"What do you mean it is only sweeping? She just left the clinic; she was almost killed by some rogues. You can be so inconsiderate, Mum," Alex yelled in the kitchen.
"Alex, calm down. You can't be roaring at your mum. Take it easy," Kylian interjected.
"Anywhere I go, trials and tribulations follow me," I thought. "Barely two days in their pack and I am already causing problems between the Alpha and his mother," I thought as I heard Alex's voice from the living room.
The following morning when I woke up, I started feeling dizzy and cold.
Then a soft, soothing voice spoke in my head.
"Zina, it's me, Nova. I am your wolf."
I got out of the room immediately, running to a nearby secluded area to shift into my wolf. I couldn't contain my happiness as I ran relentlessly.
I removed my clothes quickly and put my hand on the floor.
I started hearing bones cracking, my fingernails started changing into claws, my senses became more keen.
I turned into a big, beautiful snow-white wolf. They are very rare wolves. They belong to the pure bloodline; they are very strong and fast.
I was surprised by the wolf I had turned into. Then I remembered what the chief maid told me, 'good things take time'.
I decided to allow my wolf to move around for some time, but she became high-strung and started running through the woods early in the morning.
I kept on running until I came to a river. I decided to look at my reflection in the water. I was admiring and still marveling at my wolf when another wolf came up to me.
A big black, imposing wolf asked, "Mate?"
I replied, "Mate."
