Eric walked me home but respected my boundaries to only be friends, so he gave me a slightly lingering hug. However, I could see how reluctant he was to leave.
I greeted my parents and they were surprised that I was home. I simply said that I missed them and wanted to surprise them. They engulfed me in a bear hug. Dad sniffed the air, looked at me, and asked, "Why do you smell like Eric?" I thought quickly and replied, "Oh, he was outside when I arrived and greeted me with a hug." Dad nodded and said nothing else.
"Are you hungry? I can make you a sandwich, but we are having dinner at the pack house later," my mom offered. I shook my head and replied, "Thanks, Mom, but I'm okay for now. I want to rest a bit before we go. Is that fine?" Both my parents
