Chapter 2

THREE MONTHS LATER Elizabeth fluttered her eyes open and the sudden brightness made her close it back. The whole place was white. She thought she was dead. "Where...am...I?" She slurred on her words.. "She's awake!!" A nurse she didn't notice was there earlier screamed, running out to go and get the doctor. She detached the pipes from her hands and sat up, looking around. The room looked quite expensive. Last she remembered, she was close to death. She even heard her car burst into flames. Who could have saved her at the last moment? Whoever it was, she didn't care. She had to get out of here as fast as possible. Opening the door, she found guards stationed outside the room. "You're awake,Young Miss.Do you need anything?" One asked, his deep voice making hearing sound like a new thing to her. Not only that, she found out that strangely, she could see the man very clearly. Not blurry, She didn't need to peer, but she could see him just fine. Confused, she shook her head and went back inside. Soon, the doctor came to check up on her. He ordered the guard to get her food so she could take her drugs. "Excuse Me,Doctor..Where am I?And what's with all these guards standing outside the door?" The doctor peeped at the clipboard in his hands, and back to her. "Nurse, please prepare the young Miss for a Scan. We need to check for any brain damages, concussion or signs of either Permanent or Temporary Amnesia." "There'll be no need for that." A man came inside the room. Elizabeth assessed him with her new found eyes. He looked a little above 60 and seemed to be someone of great importance to be let inside, let alone stop the doctors from doing their job. "But Sir," The doctor was protesting but the man gave him a hard glare which shut him up immediately. "Yes sir, all other vitals are normal and she'll be fine within a few weeks of total bed rest."The doctor said. "Okay, you may leave." He waved them off and they exited, leaving the two alone in the room. Elizabeth reached for a glass of water to drink before speaking. "You seem to hold the answers to all my questions." She looked up to him. "Hello,Elizabeth." The Man said,"I am Mr.Grey Wick. Your Uncle." He Said as he looked at her with a smirk, that wasn't pleasant. "I don't have an Uncle." Elizabeth said, thinking him to be a fraudster. "Well, now you do." He said, handing her a mirror. Elizabeth almost died of horror. "What, did you do to my face?" She asked, touching her face all over. She couldn't believe her eyes. Her reflection wasn't the one in the mirror. She had a totally new eyes, hair, nose, face, chin..Everything. She looked new. "Well, it's a long story but allow me to brief you." Mr.Wick stated. "The face you carry is an important one, not a face anyone can wish to have." He pulled out a photo and showed it to her. "Do you know the girl in the photo. Elizabeth thought it strange though. She looked exactly like the girl now,no doubt the face was hers. But due to her panic earlier, she had missed the fact that she and the girl looked almost alike. They could pass for sisters or even twins. The only difference was the mole and the hair style. "No," She retorted, not impressed. Waving off her observations as coincidence, she asked further... "Am I supposed to know her?"She rolled her new eyes, basking in the joy. "She's my niece, Elizabeth Carson." Another Shocker as Elizabeth looked up. Now, it was really getting creepy. But,she didn't say anything. "Three Months Ago, She was involved in a train crash. Her Body and Face was damaged but that isn't the problem. She is supposed to take over the company from her Mother who is old and retiring, My Sister. My Sister doesn't know her daughter is in a Coma and may never wake up. She has slim chances at life due to her Cancer, I don't want her to die sad or miserable. Or die early. My Sister has been through so much and this is the least I can do for her, our whole life has been tough and it only started getting better. Her Cancer is still in a redeemable stage though but I fear for her life if she hears what happened to her only daughter. She was supposed to come back from her vacation on the night of her accident and she choose to go by train, and I've seriously ran out of excuses.. I've been making up excuses for Elizabeth's absence with photoshopped pictures. It was about time, she came back to her normal life. My Sister is already beginning to grow suspicious." Mr.Wick heaved. Elizabeth sighed,"Mr..," She paused.. "Wick." "Right,Mr.Wick. I'm so Sorry to hear this sad tale of yours and truth be told,it touched my heart, even my soul too. But, I honestly cannot help you. If What I think want me to do,is indeed what you want me to do,then I cannot."She said. "Yes,you will." He said, almost confident. His Confidence surprised Elizabeth. "What makes you so sure I'll agree to your ridiculous demands? Just so you know,I'm Elizabeth too. And I have a whole life ahead of me. Not to be a doppelganger for someone else." She shrugged, getting off the bed. "You do?I didn't think a Wanted Person could have another whole life ahead of her. Except of course, jail term."Mr.Wick shrugged also. Elizabeth felt her ego hurt. "Shut the f**k up,old man. You Don't know anything about me."She said, angry. "Well,at least I know this." He handed her a piece of the Newspaper. It was her father's case. The picture attached was the picture of her car crashed. It was burnt almost to an unrecognizable shape. "Even though, some people already believe that you died in the car crash, the police is evidently investigating, cause the body we put doesn't really match your DNAs. But, it's just a matter of time before they close the case." Mr.Wick adjusted his glasses. "So,I can either put you where you really belong or shut up and do what I asked you to. After all,I saved your life." "I didn't ask to be saved!! You made that decision by yourself!! Do you think I didn't intentionally want to die?!! Or you think everyone wants to live? My whole life has crashed before my eyes and you think I should go on living?I lost, everything." She screamed at him. "Well, young lady, you can either make the most use of this second chance and do what you need to do,or you whine away. Life doesn't favor people who whine and act weak. Sometimes, you have to act strong, even if you're not." Mr.Wick said and like a spell, his words seemed to have a big effect on Elizabeth. "You'll be discharged the day after tomorrow. Your husband might come to see you." He said. "Husband?" Her eyes grew wide. What kind of deal had she gotten herself involved in? The last thing she needed was men. She hated them now with every fiber of her being and yea, Mr.Wick was absolutely right. She was going to bring hail on those who ever wronged her.
