Episode 2
The library was quieter than usual, a cocoon of silence broken only by the faint hum of the air conditioner and the soft turning of pages. Emilia sat at her usual corner table, her heart restless as she opened the worn novel she always reached for.
Her breath caught. The letter was still there.
Hands trembling, she pulled it free, only to find that something had changed another folded sheet now sat with it. A reply.
Her pulse hammered as she opened the unfamiliar handwriting.
“I didn’t think anyone would answer me. My words were never meant to be found, but you did. And you answered. It feels strange comforting, terrifying to know a stranger read what I’ve carried in silence. Thank you, whoever you are.”
Emilia traced the ink with her finger, her lips curving into the smallest, softest smile. Someone out there had trusted her with their heart, and she had trusted back.
She pulled a notebook from her bag and began to write again, her words flowing easier this time, warmed by the knowledge that he was listening.
Somewhere else on campus, Adrian sat alone, his chest light for the first time in years. He didn’t know her name, her face, or her story. Yet he felt it the beginning of something fated.
And with each letter, the distance between them grew smaller.
