Episode 6
The library was crowded that afternoon, every table taken, students hunched over laptops and books. Emilia slipped into her corner, clutching the novel that had become her secret treasure chest. She opened it with practiced hands, heart racing and froze.
The letter was there. Fresh ink. He had been here today.
Her breath caught as her eyes scanned his words:
“Sometimes I wonder if we’ve already passed each other. Maybe we’ve sat in the same room, unaware. I like the thought of that fate keeps placing us near, waiting until we’re ready.”
Her gaze lifted, searching the rows of faces around her. Was he here now? Her pulse quickened at the thought.
She answered quickly, her words spilling without thought: “I think about that too. Maybe I’ve seen you without knowing it. Maybe the world is smaller than we believe.”
Not long after, Adrian walked into the library. He headed straight to the shelf, but just as he reached for the book, Emilia was rising from her chair. Their paths brushed for the briefest moment her shoulder grazing his arm, his eyes flicking to hers. A fleeting glance, nothing more.
Neither knew the truth: the stranger they were searching for was standing right there.
