When they arrived at the penthouse, they got out of the car. She was greeted by a luxurious apartment, unlike any she had seen before. The driver helped them with their luggage, and Joy was amazed by the elegance of the building. It was indeed a penthouse. Well, she did not expect anything less from someone who had single-handedly paid her father's hospital bill. If she had been more assertive, she might have requested a tour of the apartment. She was cautious about taking steps that weren't meant to be. James showed her to her room. Upon entering and seeing her king-size bed, she couldn't resist playfully jumping on it, expressing her delight. James chuckled at her playful behavior and was pleased that she was happy with everything. "When you're ready, come down for breakfast," James said. He then went to his room, changed into comfortable casual wear, and made his way to the kitchen. He was seen cracking the eggs into a bowl and whisking them together. He added a pinch of salt and pepper until the whites and yolks are fully incorporated. He heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and added butter. He poured the eggs and scrambled them until they're cooked through, breaking them up into small curds, he toasted the bread and served it with a hot chocolate drink. He carefully set the table, and as Joy descended the stairs, she was greeted by the inviting smell of scrambled eggs and toast. She was pleasantly surprised by his culinary skills. Seated across from James, she took a bite and remarked, "This is delicious. It was a rare compliment for him, and it had been quite some time since he had shared a meal with someone. "It never occurred to me that someone as capable as you could cook, let alone be in the kitchen, "Joy stated, sharing her thoughts openly. He couldn't help but be amused by her relaxed manner, given their recent acquaintance. "My grandmother taught me how to cook. She used to say that a good cook brings joy to the heart. I learned all the necessary recipes and cooking skills from her."The natural way in which they interacted made it seem as if they had been friends for years. James was truly enjoying this unexpected connection. Joy took the plates to the kitchen and couldn't help but be amazed when she saw the high-end appliances in the gourmet kitchen. James watched her from the dining area, amused by her reaction. After she finished in the kitchen, James excused himself. Before he left, Joy asked for permission to go out for a while to visit her father as she didn't have anything else to do. He told her she was free to go. Joy quickly went to her room to get ready and came back downstairs shortly after. She found James already dressed and ready to go out. "I want to go out too. I can drop you off on the way," James said. Joy thought to herself, "That's very kind of you.” Exiting the building, Joy spotted a red Lamborghini parked in front of him. The driver handed James the key, and he gestured for Joy to join him in the car. With a burst of speed, James zoomed off, causing Joy to hold onto her seat tightly to avoid looking like a novice. Noticing her discomfort, James slowed down. After dropping Joy off at the hospital, James turned onto the main road and headed to his grandparents' mansion. In the tearoom, his grandparents were relaxing in their armchairs. They were delighted to see him and greeted him warmly. James then presented a document from a file - it was a marriage certificate. Pa. Andrew was stunned. He had been considering helping James find a suitable partner, so he couldn't believe James had found someone so quickly. "Is this document legitimate? And where is my daughter-in-law?" Pa. Andrew, knowing that James wasn't interested in such matters, suggested that James might have forged the document. James couldn't believe his grandfather would accuse him of such a thing. "Give me some time, and I'll bring her here to meet you officially," James reassured his grandparents. They were thrilled for him, as he hadn't had someone that close in years. "Please take care of her and protect her like a valuable possession. Don't let your enemy get ahead of you. She is now a priceless possession. He kept it in mind to do his best, whether there was a contract or not. "What's next?" he asked. "I will hand over to you at the next shareholders' meeting, but before then, I'd like you to meet with some workers. They are the hidden and most reliable workers in the company. You will need their help in uncovering some secrets." Joy left the hospital and beeped her friend to check if she was available. Janet messaged back instantly, saying they should meet at the usual place. Joy sat down and ordered cappuccino for the two of them. Janet was so anxious to meet her friend because she had not been available for a couple of days, which made her worried about her state. When she got the message, she set aside everything else to rush over. "Hey, where have you been? Your number was not reachable, "Joy remarked with a smile, though her friend seemed worried. "Are you kidding me? You disappeared out of nowhere and you still have the guts to smile. Will you start explaining or do you need me to spell out how worried and agitated I am?"Joy was trying her best to calm her friend down, who was looking quite agitated. "I will explain, just calm down a bit. I'm sorry that I haven't been in touch, things really got out of hand after we met that day, "Joy confidently stated. "Well, your friend here has already signed a marriage contract. You... What! It was so unbelievable to Janet. How come, do you care to explain?" I called Jacob to ask for help, and he suggested meeting at a bar in a hotel. He promised to help me but said I would need to lie with him. Janet, who is a strong and kind person, could not contain her anger. She wanted to call Jacob and give him a piece of her mind. Janet became friends with Joy because she wanted to help her stand up to some girls who were bullying her. Joy often got attention from some guys, which caused some girls to bully her. I felt desperate about my father's hospital bills, so I drank a lot after Jacob left. I woke up in a furnished room in the hotel, feeling scared that I had been taken advantage of. However, the man who helped me was kind and took care of me to make sure I was safe. Later, I ended up throwing up on him, and he asked me to take responsibility for what happened. Not knowing what to do, he proposed a three-year marriage contract in exchange for paying my father's hospital bills. He overheard my conversation with Jacob and after much thought, I decided to agree to his proposal because he had been kind to me so far. "Wow, your story sounds like a fairy tale, because it's not something you hear about every day. Who knows, it might even turn into real love," Janet remarked, smiling. Joy rolled her eyes but then said, "Stop that, you know I hate it. But since you're living together, nothing is impossible, dear friend."They discussed other matters and prepared to leave when Joy's phone rang.
