The reporter announced boldly. Sarah couldn't believe her ears, she tuned the channel to a different one and the news was same, she kept changing channels until she got to one that had aired the President making a speech on the issue, she listened attentively and heard him confirm it, her eyes almost blurred and a wave of headache hit her almost immediately. Her hands shook uncontrollably and before could react; she heard a bang outside, she rushed to the window to see humans throwing all sort of harmful things at her apartment; she knew she wasn't human hence the cause for it, the news would have been a lie or wrong if it wasn't for the humans threatening to raze down her house. She had no issues with anyone but the hatred for the werefolk had always been there, the President had declared insecurity upon them for no reasonable reason and now the humans had gone bizzare, were they waiting for his announcement just to harm her? She had made few enemies over the months she moved there. Anyone who treated Werewolves different would have a piece of her mind and she loved it that way, the heat outside was getting more uncontrollable by the passing moments, were they planning on murdering her? "Die you cursed beast!" "Demon!" "Animal" "Cursed creature!" "Wolf in human clothing" The people swore loudly at her, she hurriedly took all her important documents and stashed them in a briefcase, they were the informations she had spent years gathering, she reached for the backdoor as it was her only escape route, it would be no problem if she went through the front door even with the people gathered there; she was a Werewolf and would easily overpower them but it would only prove the government right. She escaped swiftly and was out just in time the house was set on fire, a car pulled up just beside her and the windows were wound down to reveal her associate; Kelvin. "What are you doing standing there Sarah? Get in!" Kelvin yelled. Sarah took one last look at the house she spent most of her time in and got in the car while Kelvin sped away almost immediately, as they made the run for it, a huge truck suddenly rammed into them, Sarah yelled for Kelvin to avoid the truck but it was too late, there was a collision and then darkness. Sarah woke up with a gasp and breathed heavily, she closed her eyes and wiped the sweat beads that formed on her forehead away before advancing to gulping down the glass of water by her bedstand, she clicked a switch and the lights were on, she got out of bed and walked out of her room, she walked to the balcony and stuck out her hand. After ten minutes of just starting into the darkness, she went into her study room which was more like an undercover for her investigation room, she switched on the lights to reveal a neatly arranged room with posters of her and other people, newspapers, sticky notes, magazines and all sort of information papers pasted on the walls, there was also a shelf at the far corner which housed tons of books and paperworks. A large table sat in the middle of the room while a much smaller one was just beside it and a chair as well, Sarah sat on the chair and moved from the pile of papers on the table few ones to create space, she sighed as she continued reading and going through the papers. She had spent half the day going through it and only went to bed past midnight only to be awoken by her usual nightmare, she sighed again as she glanced at the wall clock she just got that week, it was few minutes past four in the morning which meant that she had only slept for an hour. The incidence haunted her dreams once in a while and it pushed her more to seek justice not for her alone but for others who experienced worse, it's been five years since the rights of Werewolves had been infringed and they we're been treated by second class citizens though they were provided an area for accommodation with a condusive environment yet they were living a life of imprisonment. She felt suffocated though the air conditioner in her study room was functioning well yet she longer for the natural feel of breeze on her face, it was almost Dawn and her going out would only cause more suspicions, they needed to live freely and every other creature which was the main reason she dedicated her life to fighting for their rights as Werewolves. Life as an activist was way far from been comfortable, she received several hate texts from humans and sometimes threatening messages and emails but what keeps her going was the thirst for freedom. It wasn't their fault they were Werewolves but the humans were obviously threatened by their existence, over the years she had learned to begin to fight for their rights and gather like-minded people and together they formed a formidable team who fears no one and would go to any length to excavate the truth, recently; she had been getting tips from an anonymous source about a conspiracy within the government and she sought to reveal it. She switched on her laptop and checked her email, the anonymous person had messaged her again and this time it was an address with a simple message 'Uncover the truth'.
