Addison sat in the office, tapping her feet as she waited impatiently for Logan’s arrival. She was filled with nerves and excitement. She couldn’t believe she was about to get into a contract marriage with her boss. Finally, Logan walked into the office.
“Look who’s early today.” He said as he approached her. Behind him, was a man in a suit.
Addison had always been the tardy type but she could barely even sleep last night and couldn’t wait to get to the office today.
“Had to be here early today,” She replied. Logan smiled.
“This is my lawyer” he gestured to the man in a suit and the man handed her some documents.
“This is the contract. You’ll be living in the mansion, you’ll attend every social gathering along with him and you’ll live together as husband and wife for 15 months.” The lawyer mentioned.
“The ceremony will be held this Saturday.” Logan said.
Addison took a deep breath. All of this was starting to get serious very quickly. A wave of anxiety gripped her suddenly as she tried to steady herself.
“Was my condition included in the agreement?” Addison asked, it was the most important thing about this to her.
“Yes. I would catch your father’s killer, hand him over to you and cover up your tracks within the period of these 15 months.” Logan replied. “All that is left is your signature, Addison.”
“Wait, I have a few more terms to add.” Addison interjected. “You wouldn’t interfere in whatever I choose to do with him, neither would you interfere in my private life and I'll have a separate room from yours."
“Of course,” Logan replied. Addison took a look at the contract as she grabbed a pen with shaky hands, this was a serious decision she was required to make, but she knew she owed it to her father to catch his killer.
With one long and deep breath, she signed the papers and sealed the deal. Logan smiled and it made her feel comfortable.
She knew she could trust Logan, she had been working for him for over 2 years now and it was the best working experience she had ever had.
Outside, people assumed he was ruthless and tough because of his aura and his strict nature when it came to business, but she knew better. She knew Logan was a huge softie when it came to people who were very dear to him, and fortunately, she identified with those people in his life.
They had both been through a lot in this company and had had to overcome it together.
“We’ll be meeting with the board tomorrow, schedule a meeting with them. I need to introduce you to them as my fiancé” Logan said.
Addison’s eyes widened in surprise, “Aren’t you being a bit too forward? I just signed the papers, Logan.”
“Every day these people keep coming up with more ludicrous reasons to dismiss me. I need to cripple their defenses as soon as possible. The earlier, the better.” He replied. “You can go home for the day. I’ll send my driver to get you tomorrow morning.” He dismissed her, leaving the office with his lawyer.
Logan knew how hard this decision was for Addison, he could only imagine how overwhelming the entire board would be to her. But, he was certain that if anyone could do it, that person would be Addison, she was the strongest and bravest he knew. All he wanted to do was ease her worries about it.
Addison got to her apartment to meet her sister in the kitchen, making a mess of course.
“Since when did you start coming to my house to cook?” Addison asked, laughing as she helped her clean up.
“I got tired of waiting and got hungry,” Eva replied. “So, tell me already, how’d it go?”
“I signed them…” Addison replied, smiling.
“AGHHHHHH!” Eva screamed ecstatically. “That’s wonderful!”
“The wedding is on Saturday.” Addison added.
“And I’m your bridesmaid” Eva completed, causing a chuckle from Addison.
“I’m not sure about this, Eva.” Addison whined, she was still feeling very anxious about her decision. “But it’s going to be worth it for sure. I asked for a condition, he’s going to find daddy’s killer, Eva.”
“What?!” Eva exclaimed. “Why would you do that?”
Eva was upset by this. She wanted her sister to get over it and finding the killer will only open up her wounds again. It was a bad idea.
“It's my decision, Eva.” Addison said firmly. “I’ll be meeting the board members tomorrow.”
Eva sighed, her sister could be so insufferable whenever it came to their late father.
“I’m going to take a shower.” Addison said as she resigned to her bedroom.

She woke up the next morning with a brilliant spirit. She hadn’t been this enthusiastic about anything for a while now and she was glad because she needed that energy today. She spent a while looking for the perfect outfit which could impress the directors.
She put on her most expensive suit. She looked smart and elegant, perfect for the kind of people she was meeting today. She wore her make up lightly today and styled her hair in a neat bun. She grabbed her bag and left her apartment.
When she got downstairs, she saw Logan’s Rolls Royce and his driver parked in front of her apartment building. On seeing her, he got out of the car and opened the door for her to get in. She was already receiving princess treatment as his fiancée, a feeling of excitement swept through her body.
The car was luxurious and the interior was breathtaking. The driver smoothly drove across the city and to the company. Her heart raced as she walked through the entrance, she got to the office and caught Logan seated majestically behind his desk.
It was moments like this that made Addison question that such a gorgeous man was of this world.
He caught her gaze and stood up immediately, walking towards her.
“Good, you’re here. Give me your hand.” He said, taking her hand in his as he slipped a diamond ring on her fore finger. A gasp escaped Addison’s lips, it was a magnificent ring and Addison couldn’t stop staring at the huge diamond stone embedded in its center.
“I’ve been waiting for you. The board of directors are already gathered in the boardroom.” Logan informed grabbing her hand in his as he looked into her eyes. “Shall we?” He asked, Addison nodded and they made their way to the boardroom together.
Logan’s phone began to ring and he checked it, it was Ivy, his major chick. Addison knew Ivy well and had had various encounters with her. She had constantly tried to put Addison down, she’d suspected that Logan had feelings for her and was jealous of their close relationship with each other. Logan switched off his phone.
He opened the doors to the boardroom and Addison couldn’t help but feel a strong sense of nervousness. Whatever had happened to her enthusiasm this morning?
They entered the room and were greeted with the cold stares of 7 directors as they turned their attention towards them. Addison swallowed, her stomach churned in response. Logan’s hand tightened around hers in reassurance.
They got to the center of the room and stood before the board. Addison was a nervous wreck and their scrutinizing gazes directed at her were not helping matters, they were probably wondering what his secretary was doing here.
“Ladies and gentlemen, may I present Addison, my fiancée.” Logan announced boldly, his tone carrying the significance of her presence. He was a totally different breed filled with authority whenever it came to business.
The room was filled with gasps, as they murmured and whispered amongst themselves. Logan squeezed Addison’s hand lightly, signaling for her to speak. Addison took a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves.
“It’s a pleasure to meet all of you.” She said, steeling herself against the impending challenge.
“Addison, the secretary, right?” One of the ladies on the board spoke, her tone dripping with disdain. Addison was taken aback, she had never foreseen her position to be an obstacle. The tension in the room grew.
“Yes, she’s my secretary, a competent one at that. She equally possesses multiple skills and has a proven track record in strategic planning and project management, cultivating strong teams and fostering innovation.” Logan defended strongly, raising their held hands to show the bright ring on her hand. The room was filled with gasps of surprise once again.
“She’s also a graduate of Harv…” Logan started but was interrupted by the sound of the doors opening.
The entire room turned around. It was Ivy, dressed in black and ready for a funeral…
