Chapter 6 Sawyer There’s an entire kitchen island between us but Zoey seems like she’s ready to run. She takes a deep breath and her eyes scan my body before she shifts her gaze to the bowl before her. Her expression settles, but her shaking hand is a sign she’s nervous. “You’re up late.” No response. I’ve been waiting for the silent treatment and here it is. And I don’t like it. Zoey goes for a spoon and returns to the island, eyes only on her cereal. I pour myself a bowl and sit next to her. She hesitates, but fills her mouth after a moment.
