Dragons Sanctuary

Rosilia POV 15 years old The forest was dancing with beautiful butterflies. Glowing in the night as it was nearly dawn, as if time itself had stopped, a man approached. Tall, slender yet muscular, eyes of the deepest blue. Cloaked in the middle of the night with ripped jeans and a black shirt. Scales in his eyes of the deepest purple along with black and sliver. Watching this beautiful man and the forest was enchanting, as if he was the air she would breathe, as this man was watching and an arrow shot from behind him and hit his arm. " NOoooo!" Rosilia screamed with her arm forward of her body as if to prevent the arrow, but just to her surprise she lay in her room .... Unsure of what had just happened and getting up as the sun's rays were just peaking above the window, which meant she had awoken at sunrise. Getting up out of bed and going to her closet, she grabs her training outfit. Black leather pants with matching gountlets, her shirt a deep blood red with her favorite boots that were black. Looking in the mirror, she grabs a hairpiece to tie it up into a ponytail with her ring of her family crest. Looking at the beautiful ring was a dragon with a yellow eye. "Why is it my eyes match the eyes of the dragons but none of my family does," She whispered. Ignoring her insercuties she gets everything she needs today, Grabbing her sachel and putting the paper work the elders requested and the blacksmith needs to her fathers office before she goes to train today. As she opens her door, seeing if anyone else is up yet, she closes her door and makes a run for it before her adviser will be coming to wake her in about an hour roughly, but seeing things will be done before she gets there. Stopping to make a left at the end of the hall, I knocked on my father's office door just incase he was awake. "Come in!" Smiling, she opened the door. "Morning dad. I have the blacksmiths list here for you and do you know where the elder sage is today?" Setting the paper on his desk, he waves for me to come to the other side of the desk and I do as he said and he pulls a chair next to him. "How is it,, your so young yet you seem like the perfect ruler even though your not of age, My pumpkin?" Lord Blazier says. Rosilia shrugged her shoulders. "I just like helping those who need my help, dad. Plus I wanna be like you some day." All but giggled the last part out as her dad tickled her sides. "Okay, just remember classes are at noon and not to get in any trouble." He, kisses her forehead "OH! and Alderon's eggs are going to hatch today if you want to come watch?" "REALLY!? YAY! Okay, I'll be there as soon as classes are over, but I need to stop by the mill after for the winter supplies they'll need". Even as her father was going to say something, she jumped off the chair and realized she was going to be late for training. Even while running out of the castle doors and past the bakery to the training field, all I could think of was that man in the dream. It felt so real, like any other dream. It had that feeling and when she woke up something was telling her in her gut that a man was important to her. That someday in her future she'd meet him in person. Shaking these thoughts out of her head as she reached the field and saw her friend at the end of the field, she put her bag by a tree. "There you are! I thought you slept in today for sure!" " Of course not. I may be a lady someday, but I enjoy our morning sparing Tahli." She's one of my classmates and friends basically grew up together on this island. Her mum is an elf from the silver-crest land. She fell in love with a half-frost giant-human, So they moved here so they'd be safe to raise a family together. Her father is one of the soldiers and he's actually our mentor for training, while her mom makes clothes and sells them at the market in the middle of town. Tahli herself has bright green eyes with dark brown hair, but she can grow four times her size. She's roughly 5'10 with a light tan with a birth mark on her right shoulder and it looks like a beautiful tattoo. While I'm about 5'6 with fiery red hair and gold eyes with green flexs with a medium tan. Personally, I get along with my father and his dragon more than my own mom. "Hey my dad's here, you ready?" "Yeah, as ready as I'll be" as Gallen walks on the field and we start doing warm ups and stretches, then get in a one on one stance while faceing Tahli. We slowly start circling with our hands up. Tahli strikes first with a punch to the right. I barely dodged but then I kicked her side to the left and knocked the wind out of her. As she punches and kicks at me, we spar for what feels like forever the sound of the bakers, bell sounds which normally mean it's roughly about 9am. Tahli and I both stop for a water break while the sweat is dripping down our backs and our bodies sore in places we both forgot about. "Okay, so whats going on with you?" Tahli asks, Instantly froze while looking at her. Tahli could see past anything if she tried some days. I swear she was a telepath. " Nothing, why you ask?" taking a sip of our water while Tahli gave a mischievous smirk while giving me a look that only friends could understand. "Oh nothing, just how your punches were a flop and how your mind wasn't into the sparing today. Even though we all know you hit like a bus." Tahli giggled out the last part. "Argh fine you've convinced me but don't be spilling my secret." pointing her water bottle as if a sword at her friend. Slapping her own water bottle against mine she says "I know the rules just spill already, it's not like a boy randomly got you swooning." Blushing at the last part, setting her water bottle in her lap, replying to my friend and said "and what would you do if it was a boy?" Tahli about spits her drink on me then looking shocked "OH! do i know him!?" getting way too excited about this. "No you don't" biting my lip and nervously say "he was in my dream last night so I doubt it." all but whispered out to her friend. "Oh? So does this mystery man have a face or a name? I know that your dreams help with your problems sometimes, so who is he?" Sitting and laugh casually. "I have no idea what his name is, but man. He has the most beautiful blue eyes I've ever seen and dark curly hair, even the way he stood in that forest was breathtaking", said with a sigh at the end. Tahli saw the pout in her friend's eyes when she felt like it'd never happen. " Hey cheer up. It's not every day you fall for a man in your dreams." I got up and started to chase her with my water bottle by throwing it across the field and smacking her with it in her back. "And it's not everyday a lady beats your butt!" they giggled. After goofing off for a few minutes with Tahli, we both had better things to do today. So we walked to the school and waited for the bell before entering. Since we turned ten, classes were shortened so we could have morning training and defense classes with the top warriors. "Well, I'll be seeing you buddy! Good luck with the elders and Elven Science." Tahli says "Yeah yeah at least I'm not in Dwarf History. " laughing and running from her. As I walk down the corridor she feels something's not right. "Tahli, I swear I was joking with the Dwarf History." As I spin but gets kicked in the stomach as I hit the ground, I look up to, The Orc Chiefs' son, Riften. He's about 6'7" with dark brown hair, olive green skin with black and purple freckles, small tusks with honey brown eyes. Oh god not this i***t. I thought to myself. " What do you want, Riften?" "Oh you know the usual." He smirks at me with desire and I roll my eyes and smirk, Still my i***t friend. "Yeah yeah whatever jerk help me up, You knocked over my books." he laughs and gives me a hand "you alright today you would've heard me a mile away yesterday whats up?" he asks concered. "Eh life you know. Elders and Elven Science just the norm." Ignoring the fact that dream from last night. "Uh huh. So the dance is coming up soon." He says "So...What? You know I'm too busy for that stuff." He sighs " yeah but one dance wont kill you, plus I miss hanging out with ya Rosi" He looks at me with a certain look of desire and concern. Only if he knew.. Why does he even want me to begin with? I think most of the boys who want me just want my title too. He has been my friend for years tho.. I sigh "I know, but I still have responsibilities. My siblings never wanted the isle to begin with, so that leaves me and the twins and no way in hell I'd trust them with my people." Walking the class side by side as we stop outside of the, elven science class. "Yeah they're crazy bad when it comes down to it." I nod as the area seems to have become tense and akward "Well I better go you know got grades and supplies lists to fill later bye." I say to him practically running in the door of her teachers room. "Oh! Rosilia! I thought you had tomorrow's class with me?" Miss. Gren says " I know your part of the school council too, so I wanted to stop bye for the supplies lists for the winter coming up. Plus, I'm kinda running to the elders afterwards." She looked at me with a confused yet modest smile. "Oh okay, I can have the list ready by tomorrow, the same time. That way you can just take it after class?" "Sounds great." I handed her 3 papers from my sachel "Oh and I need everyone to sign,. My father's word not mine." "Yes, yes, every year." She giggles as I wave her good bye and walk out of the school I look at the time and I start to head to the Elders council in the center of town. Reaching the council building, I swiped my pass for the upstairs pass and walked down the hallway to the meeting room and knocked. "Come in" as loud as day, as if the door wasn't 2 feet thick. Pushing the door open as it closes behind me with a big thud, "Welcome Rosilia, we've been waiting for you." Elder Han says "Thank you. I have all the papers for today's agenda." I handed to the elder to my left as they started passing them to the right on the circle table. The table has an open center and the table itself is a big, almost curved circle and has an entrance for you to enter and work by their side. As the elders read over the table Elder sage looks up and asks "So almost all the winter preparations are almost done. So to get to the point the reason you are here is ever since your birth you've been more tied to the dragons than anyone we've ever seen before, even your father, now had something magical happened to you within the last few months since your birthday is right around the corner we would like to know just in case something happen's even if the red mages are mostly gone we've heard more rumors on the main lands of them slowly returning." Thinking back to the dreams that have actually been happening and last nights a slight blush crawls on to my face. "umm I have been have a some dreams that happen but that's about it." I state since hiding it iwould probably hurt the isle. "Hmm Interesting" Elder June says "Maybe if you started writing them in a book that way we could keep track of what happens while you sleep and see how it happens." "Okay maybe. I'll think about it." I replied, "But what do you mean that the Red mages are becoming more of a return if, I may ask?" Curiosity got the best of me. " Well, you could ask your father more about it due to the reports he has mentioned here and there, but I doubt he'd want to involve you my dear. Till you are of age, information is limited for you." "You are right. But do you have any other powers we should know of? We know you have enhanced smell, sight and hearing. Now you have visions even with the strength you possess. We are curious to know, it is possible to change into something due to the dragon blood flowing into your, veins." Elder Dan suggested .I never thought of it before, but maybe but with concern of the red mages wandering into my mind is fogging my mind. "I don't know but, I would personally like to experiment and see if i can do any of the sorts another day perhaps we do have tons of things to discuss don't you think?" "yes your quiet right, In fact back to the manner of winter is apporching fast the winds are changing everyday and we'd give it about a month before the tides change." Elder Han says "Yes we only have 2 lists left for the prepartions of winter then we will have to order everything for a quick shipment. Otherwise I don't see us getting everything else we need for the islands." I say quickly, trying to clear my mind for the worries of everything before worrying about my people first. One thing at time breathe it'll be okay. I take over in 2 years when I turn 18.. It's terrifying knowing I turn 16 this year and knowing I only have a few things to learn and master. I hope I'm enough for my people and I can figure this out as I go. Dad did. I hope I'll be just as good as him. He does have 400 years on me but I'm learning as I go. "Well Rosilia is yet to bond to any dragons due to her blood being more of a dragon blood than anything." Elder Dan says "hmm. Well she is almost of age to bond with a dragon. What if we did that?" "We could and then she would not only have her own powers but when she bonds with the dragon it would make her stronger than we could know. Also making her bloodline more powerful." Elder Han Says "Well true it could make me stronger just I don't want to be stronger than I can't handle I want to be able to take on this threat and help my people no matter the cost." I say unsure of how to feel about this. It's an honor to bond with a dragon just I don't even know what I can do on my own let alone bonded to a baby dragon or an adult. You can only bond if you have that connection. and the dragon has to choose you not the other way around. I know about the hatchery but I'd like to learn more about it. "If I do bond with a dragon what would it do excatly?" I ask wondering if it could help me help my people. "Well You could alwyas confront the Dragon Master he works in the hatchery." Elder Sage says. "Hatchery it is then." I say "I'll be back tomorrow with the rest of the winter supplies lists I'll head over to the hatchery and talk to Falner then. See if it's an ideal thing to do." I say unsure if I want a dragon. They only bond if they see your fit for them. being uncertian of what you want in life might make it hard for them to even choose you. All I know is I want I want to rule my people and keep the peace and be strong enough to keep them safe and be worthy to fight with them. Because I never back down from a challenge. Walking to the hatchery to meet with Falner is hard since he's half dragon and half elf. He is very wise and keeps the hatchery safe from any attack. He specializes in lots of magic, He's a fire dragon hybrid. He's taller than my own father around 7' he wears a dark blue robe with yellow and green embriodering into it, White hair due to age and Golden red eyes with pionty ears of his eleven half. Even walking to the Hatchery seemed to take some time due to thinking about seeing of bonding let alone touching an egg. But meeting with Falner is a rare opportunity. Although bonding with a dragon is rare but the types of dragons are interesting. Theres tons of types of dragons, my personal favorite was the underdark ones. Walking to the hatchery gate I used the door knocker to annouce my presence since I couldn't just walk in. The door opens Shocking the daylights out of me. "Rosilia?" Falner says "What are you doing here child?" with a heavy sigh "can I come in and talk Falner?" "Yes come in. I've been waiting for you to visit actually" I walk in and he closes the huge door. Entering the hatchery was one of the most magical moments in my life. It was huge, It was a dome shaped builing from the outside but the side it looked 10xs bigger had atleast 12 floors and mostlikely more underground. It reminded me of the forest in my dream even had fireflies in the building on the bottom floor it had a glass ceiling for the light to gently touch the eggs on there own pedistals some in shade some in water some even floatng due to what type of egg it was they were every where. "So what brings you here child." Falner says "I need help learning what I am.. I know I have dragon blood but I don't know what I alone am acapable of. But the council thinks when I turn 16 something will change due to the blood in me, I'm also unsure of what's to become of me if a dragon bond's to me because it'll be forever and I can't take it back once it's done Falner." Rosilia says with doubt in her voice. "Too me it seems you need time to bloom in who you are. But it also seems you need a guide to help when your troubled and with doubt as you are now. You remind me of your father when we first met." Falner smiles gently and walks to the center of the room and waves for me to step inside the center circle. "May I ask what you mean Falner?" Stepping into the circle when I do he waves his hand and a blue flame glows from his hand and waves to the circle, It shakes for a second and starts to lower beneath us. As soon as the darkness of night beneath us opens and my eyes adjust to it. I realize I coiuld see in the darkness too and that the night was to represt the underdark. "Wait do we have underdark breeds?" I ask shocked. "Yes little one, We've been taking in eggs everytime we find a nest most don't survive the travel due to there mothers passing. But when they reach here each egg is tended to and taken care of with it's own needs." Falner says. As the floor slowly moves down the the center of the room about 6 stories down we stop and a bridge forms for us to walk to a door. It's a black with green and purple spots on it but Falner shows me towards the door next to it a Shiny red one. As we enter I realize this must be his office. Falner goes and takes a seat while I do the same. "Since you need guidence with your dragon blood I think the council was right with you needing to bond with a dragon. So why don't you tell me little one what is it you desire for yourself?" He says while placing his hands in his robe. "hmm well I've always wanted to be a good ruler and keep peace...But I haven't thought about myself really." Felling a little unsure of myself. "Hmm well why don't you tell me have you had any powers show of late?" He starts to get a piece of paper while a floating quil writes. "I have had dreams that come true like the clock tower breaking and almost falling into the center of town. Or the stables roof colasping. But everytime It's something like that I just have poeple fix it before it does and luckily too otherwise people would have gotten hurt." I say while looking into my hands. "have you had any recently? That feel more real than just a dream?" Falner asks as a general question. Oh god I can't tell him about it that's too embarrasing. As a slight blush shows up on my face I figit for a minute. "Umm." Falner looks at me with a confused look while the quil stops moving. "It's kinda embarrasing." I say while biting my lip "oh? How is your latest dream embarrasing?" Falner seems a little intergiued "Well it was because of the person in it he was the most beautiful person I've ever seen. Let alone met." she says almost a whisper if it weren't for the dragon hearing he wouldn't have heard her. "Hmm Interesting." He stands and starts walking to one of his shelves rubbing his beard and pointing past books when some one knocked on his door. "Come in!" He says This beautiful woman walks in she has greying hair and a kind smile with bright green eyes with a baby in her arms wiggling around. "Oh Rosilia I'm so sorry to intrude it's lunch time and I was bringing my mate food." She smiles handing Falner a bag of food as he leans down to pick it from her he kisses her head and then kisses the baby as she turns and leaves once againg falner and I in the room alone. I smile wondering what it'd feel like to have a partner of my own. "What is a mate falner?"
