The light at operation theatre finally
switched off and the doctor came out of the
door.
"How is he doctor?" For the first time in the last nine-hour, Bianca stood from her
chair and ran toward the doctor to ask
Alessandro's health.
"It's critical, we have to keep him under
observation. The accident has seriously
damaged his brain cell and he is not
responding to the treatment. He might go
in a coma or have brain dead, nothing can
be said assured for next forty-eight-hour,"
Doctor Ethan answered both of them.
"Any way does he have any relative that we
can contact?" Doctor asked Darren.
"I don't think his step-mother is interested to
watch over him in this condition that leaves
only me the nearest among all." Darren
clenched his jaws remembering the cunning
evil so-called step-mother of Alessandro
Romano, Ileana Romano.
"We need a signature on some papers that
state hospital won't be liable for the patient's
death if anything goes wrong." Doctor Ethan
informed Darren and he nodded.
"Will he die?" Bianca asked the doctor with trembling voice and teary eyes. Her nose was as red as cherry so were her eyes.
"We can't say anything my dear." Ethan
patted her shoulder and passed both of
them.
Everything seemed surreal and Bianca
slipped down on her knees crying to save a
heartless beast.
Right there Darren held her from falling
more, embracing her, soothing her. He
did not know why this girl was crying for
Alessandro Romano. Afterall he did not
treat well to her the time they encounter.
Then why was she broken when the doctor
announced his condition?
Darren had confirmed her job back so she
must have been glad and on her way to her
work station and not sulking here but she
was different. He felt pity for the attachment
she held for Alessandro who had mood
swings more often than the monster in
disguise.
"Let's get you checked up first then take rest.
I am here to see over him." Darren assured
thinking she was stressed and traumatized
due to the accident.
Finally she nodded and stood up just to fall
again and closing her eyes.
Beep! Beep! Beep!
The sound of the monitor was all that
was heard in the ward where Bianca was admitted. She was dehydrated and stressed as per the medical tests. Slowly, she opened her eyes adjusted the
brightness of the room. It must have been
mid-day according to the brightness of light
inside the room.
She shook her head and tried leaning on
the headboard. Her throat was dry and she
roamed her eyes in search of water. She had
IV fluid attached to her.
"You are awake." The voice startled her. "How are you feeling?" Darren asked her again.
So it was not a dream she thought. All those things literally happened. She was not having any delusion and the accident was
real. She shook her head and muttered, "how
is he?"
"Under observation. You fainted just a few
hours ago." Darren sighed.
"Don't you have to be with him?" This silly
girl was still thinking about Alessandro's
well-being? Darren was amused with
Bianca's behavior.
Does she even belong to this world? He shrunk his eyebrows in observation. "I will be informed about him don't worry. I
will order something to eat for you," Darren
said.
"Don't bother please, I will grab it on my way.
Thank you for taking care of me but how
will I afford to pay the bill for this room? It
is V.VIP cabin and I have enrolled here two
months ago. I can't even afford it with my
one year salary." Bianca was blabbering
quickly like the chicken without head.
"Hey, it's okay, I have taken care of it."
Darren quickly shut her blabbering before it
went out of his hand.
"Oh!" Bianca voiced.
Just then a nurse entered the room and said Dr.Ethan had to discuss something about Alessandro's condition with Darren.
With the final glance Darren left the room and followed the nurse. Bianca was curious and had heavy breath thinking what could be the things they had to discuss.
According to the discussion, Alessandro had not responded to the treatment and was declared to be in a coma after forty-eight-hour of observation. He was given life support as accepted by Darren
with Dr.Ethan. On the other hand, Bianca was back on her job but lost in some way. With the burden that she still had to fulfill the plead to save Alessandro by hook or crook, she visited
him in the interval of two-three hours and
whenever she had spare time.
She was like his caretaker with everything
updated with the medicines injected. Even
with life support she was hopeful one day he
shall open his eyes and she will be free from
the burden she carried to save his life.
